It appears you have described players like the Bryston BDP-2 - multiple USB inputs for flashdrives and HDs and SSDs, user installable internal SSD if one wants to go this route, Internet streaming.
The sound is spectacular.
Gordan your are not a broken record. less sholud be more. but i think the rreal issue is digital audio and how its used. some who have rerad my post,s back with my pwd mkii , have read i used an offramp usb to hdmi i2s converter.
i have always beleaved that the dacs are not the issue but the cpu,s we use . and i have found the usb converters helped. now with a real audio server the dacs now show me there limts of play back qulity. and the DS is pretty awsome .
i feel the server will greatly impress your ds experience and your posting skills will give us a great read in the near future. my learning curve was hell but i did and do now understand much more about audio for it.
