Hi everyone.
I’m the proud owner of a previously enjoyed P5. I’m trying to experiment and learn about getting the best of my P5 unit.
One area that I’m a little confused about is the “Command Center” web UI, using the My Products -> Control navigation on the PS Audio website. Here is what my screen looks like:
I’m a little disappointed, as I can’t seem to do much. The reason I’m disappointed is that my P5 is at the bottom of my rack, so interacting with the touch screen requires me to lie flat on my stomach and peer at the screen. Not something I want to do regularly.
Here are the things I can’t do from the web UI:
- Figure out current level of firmware
- adjust dimming level of the screen
- Turn multiwave on and off
- Vary multiwave strengths and modes
- Get any historical data - the UI only displays instantaneous data, looks like.
Am I just missing something? Don't get me wrong - I love the SQ improvement provided by the P5, but the web UI is, forgive me, lame.
It’s been a long time since I owned a P5, however using my P3 to test my memory the following might apply:
-
Firmware version is indicated on the MyPS>PowerPlay landing page.
-
Unit display brightness can be configured via MyPS>PowerPlay>Configure page (5 settings available: LOW, MEDIUM, HIGH, AUTOSLOW, AUTOFAST).
3,4. Use the remote control to turn MW on/off, no need to do this on the touchscreen.
- Historical data is available via PowerPlay>Performance page (the data is stored on annual basis, 1 Jan the previous year data is dumped off the server).
Do all this via your MyPS account, not via the local address of the P5.
I have the same situation regarding a P5 on the bottom shelf. You can use the remote not only to turn the P5 on/off, but to adjust screen brightness and (IIRC) control multiwave. You have to be close enough to read the screen, but not crawling around on the floor.

Thanks so much for this clarification!
I assumed all the control was done through the My PS > Control path. I didn’t think to try PowerPlay. Just out of curiosity, are these controls documented somewhere? I see nothing in the P5 manual. It’s also a bit odd that you have 2 separate UI’s to control the unit:
- My PS > Control
- My PS > PowerPlay
I can imagine how this happened - evolution over time - but sounds like good documentation and clear directions are in order. I don't recall a remote control in my box - I'll have to go back and rummage.
If you don’t have a remote, contact PS Audio customer support. They will get you one for a reasonable price (or maybe even just send you one); they are good about things like that. It’s a small, unimpressive-looking black rounded thing but it does what it needs to.
PSA documentation is generally very good. But sometimes topics are just not covered. There is no discussion of the PowerPlay in the manual, aside from giving a link and saying that it’s easy and useful. This should be in the manual, or at least in an online supplement.

Yep. And sometimes the manual might discuss a feature that was intended but never implemented.
