Yea, this is a different issue I believe. 
To my ears the Pass Labs sound is easy on the ears, especially in Class A form. I am running high efficiency speakers, 96-97 dB, with the Pass Labs XA-25 and XP-22. The Pass gear driving a pair of Pure Audio Project Trio 15 Classic speakers provides for some fine listening sessions.
The noise floor is what they are speaking of in the review. Not static!
Maybe someone could record some static on their phone and let the rest of us hear it?
