You just know somewhere on the web there is a thread debating how the format and resolution of album art impacts sound quality…:-).

rogerdn saidstevem2 said I think artwork on the front panel is also software dependent. I don't recall ever seeing it with anything other than eLyric. No as I recall when my bridge was working it had art with JR, Pure Music, all my players.
I still use eLyric and my DS displays artwork…when it wants to. This is also not a high priority for me.
@Rob H - I can only assume that your DirectStream will become noisier with time. By my estimate, in late July it may begin to become noisy. Just like your PWD only more “realishly” noisy.
I usually get album art on my PWD, but it is not that important to me. I can’t see much on that little screen twelve feet away. What counts is getting art on my tablet where I can see it. This almost always works.
Anyway, I think that album art display problems are mostly Bridge related. PWD/DS firmware issues may have some part in the problems. Hopefully this will be much better with Bridge 2 whenever it comes along.

Excellent. Enjoy.
Got my DS back from distributor. Two days from Adelaide to my place must be some kind of record! I unboxed it and plugged it in, hooked up the Bridge and away it went straight off the bat. Great stuff! It sounds pretty good straight away. A little edgy especially on sibilants but I expected that. I will run the Reference Recordings burn in disc for about a week in between listens.
I am VERY excited. If it improves as I expect it to it will be scary good. I changed the name on the Bridge page to “Teds DAC”. Any time Ted wants to holiday Downunder I have a shed in the back yard he can crash in!!!
I need to up my preamp about ten clicks but I expected that too.
Let me give a big shout out to Mike at Magenta Audio. He went above and beyond helping me. Probably the best Hi End dealer I have ever been acquainted with. Big thumbs up, Mike!
Yes!!
Great news Ross. My DS has needed 250 hours on it before it started to loosen up. Burn in continues though, currently at 300 hours!
"SHIPPING DEPARTMENT of PS AUDIO INC sent Rob H of Rob H 1 FedEx Home Delivery package(s)."
Um, er... As they say here in North Carolina: "YYYYYEEEeeeeeeeee Hawwwwwwwwwwwww!"
Congrats! Now comes the hardest part–waiting for delivery after it has shipped.
Congrates from North Carolina.
Let me know when it’s here
I took mine down here for now

louawalters said LOL - well it's gonna have to wait, I just made a large purchase - new speakers - Von Schweikert VR5 Anniversary MK 2's... I'm gonna be broke for a whileCongrat on you VSA's! Great speakers!
My first listen to my updated DS DAC it was a bit thin and edgy with slightly hissy sibilants. I pretty much expected that. I am running track 9 of the Reference Recordings setup disc in between listens. The next day, after a night of burn in, the sound was a lot better. The sibilants were a lot cleaner. Now on day four the DS sounds just great. Much more grounded with little or no hissy sibilants.
What I thought may well have been marketing hyperbole, the “hear everything on your disc” spin, appears to be untrue. I have picked up cues and low level detail that I had previously not been aware of. This is especially apparent on dsf files. Cat Stevens Tea for the Tillerman (dsf from Acoustic Sounds), an album I have multiple copies of, has more low level detail than I have heard before.
This would be a waste if the DAC was bright and “digital” sounding in a negative way but its not. It sounds pretty right to me now.
Some people have reported 250-500 hours burn in. This seems a lot to me. I normally find 100hrs for digital components is plenty. I’m happy with the sound now and any further improvement will be a big bonus.
Great post. Try sad Lisa.
The DSD is amazing on the DS.
the voice , piano and strings just sound so real. The DS. Shows every step in the mixing as the song plays out.

Just ordered my kit, now I just need to bury myself in work until enough time passes for it to arrive.
So much for sleeping easy for a while…
Congratulations. I think you’ll be very happy with the upgrade (I am). But no guarantees.
Congratulations, blitzxgene. Mine is due here on Wednesday (full unit, not a kit.)
Question for those tuning in: What do you have under your DS or PWDII for isolation or vibration control? Valid Points? Stillpoints? Isopods? Little gum erasers? Nothing?
Since the new DAC will be the ‘showpiece’ of any system, I wonder what support would make it sound best.
