Michael Lavorgna from AudioStream just posted a short review of DirectStream. You can read it here.

The last bit of the review talks about the new firmware, 61, so you can get a taste of it.

BTW, here is a quote from another reviewer, one I cannot yet name, that sent me a personal note after trying the new firmware.

After updating the firmware, I played Shelby Lynne's Just a Little Lovin'. I had played it just before the upgrade, and thought it sounded very nice, but after the upgrade, I thought "Hmm, someone's standing behind my rack singing to me." I know that sounds like reviewer BS, but that's actually true.

I am tickled he wrote “If there was an area that I found the DirectStream DAC to diverge from other DACs I enjoy its with timbrel complexity and midrange richness.”

It is as if he is channeling my many (probably too many) posts stating this very same thing.
