The green light was on when I first started using both I2S inputs.
The only green light I get is with optical! Football game sounds great!
I just gave my MK2 a name! Roxanne! You don’t have to put on the red light!

i2S - With i2S 1 selected I have a red light and do not see the format playing. With the same paths as described below, I did see format on the MKI. Music plays without issue.

USB - With USB selected I have a green light and do see the format. Music plays without issue.
My path for i2S: Roon Nucleus Plus → Ethernet → Ubiquity Unifi managed switch → Fiber → Ubiquity Unifi managed switch → Fiber → Sonore Signature Rendu SE → USB → Kitsune KTE SU-2 DDC → i2S → DS MKII i2S input 1.
My path for USB: Roon Nucleus Plus → Ethernet → Ubiquity Unifi managed switch → Fiber → Ubiquity Unifi managed switch → Fiber → Sonore Signature Rendu SE → USB → DS MKII USB input.
Also confirmed are the IR codes. Our Control 4 still controls the MKII in the same way it controlled the MKI.
Hmmmm. Admitting I may be missing something but after hooking all up, I get power on the transport, BHK pre, BHK amps, dac2.
Dac2 is input via wireworld I2S from transport. Connections seem correct 4x… ( I keep looking, expecting to find a doofus move. )
But there’s no audio at any volume setting on pre and dac2; mute is off on both. I2s1 shows on dac2.
Wild idea: could it be I have a dac2 w no software?
Help? I’ll call PS Monday if nobody knows.

Does the top right of the display track your inputs, e.g. I2S1, 44.1 24 ? If so you might have gotten bitten by the same bug as those whose units worked well for a while and then went mute. If the upper right doesn’t track your inputs then perhaps there is something wrong with the software load.
This seems wrong… might be the silence issue. Trying to play 16/44 cd.

That is fixed in the new FPGA software (not yet released). I2S inputs are out of polarity so all zeros looks like all 1s in a sample. I thought that that bug was fixed in the last software I sent to PS Audio, but in any case, it’s fixed in the new code.
I just noticed that while playing DSD over USB, Roon isn’t passing on the DSD file, it is doing a DSD to PCM conversion to 352.8khz PCM. This happens when the Rendu is configured for “Native DSD”.
When I switch the Rendu to DoP, I hear burst of static, similar to the blat from a trumpet.
I have included diagnostic logs from the Rendu for both “Native DSD” and “DOP”.

That’s suggestive of something up the chain from the DS is doing math on the samples. Everything needs to be verified that they are passing the bits thru unscathed. I believe that the bit perfect test will be in the next software release from PS Audio.
Agreed. I am wondering if there’s an issue with the PS Audio Extended Resolution driver. I think up above in the topic it was mentioned prior by someone streaming from a PC.

Tried to reboot dac2; get ps audio screen then no delay as was case while dac1 would initialize.
The DS Mk II boots almost instantly. Since you were getting an output on the screen which was consistent with your source (modulo the bit inversion bug in I2S) your software is very probably working fine. You can read the list of known issues by clicking the link in the first post on this thread.
I have good and bad news. First the good.
My brother is over and we came to the same conclusions, This MKII walked all over my modified MKI. Voices sounded more real and more present, better tone and air to high frequencies, much clearer and present soundstage…, not close at all!
Next I took out my Esoteric C-02 preamp and the sound got leaner and a bit sharp. Definitely much better with the preamp in the mix. The preamp gives a even better and complete picture of the music. The preamp stays.
Next we tried the USB input. This is the bad news. It cannot play DSD256. Although I believe the sound could be quite close to the Matrix and I2S. I’ll have to wait and see if Ted can fix this issue before I go on.
Later maybe another day, my brother will bring over his Esoteric N-01XD and we’ll do another shootout.
This is within the first hour of turning the unit on, so things can still get much better as times goes.
Since you are running different FPGA software than I thought was released, perhaps only having one input connected to the DAC will work, or perhaps using TOSLink or AES3 will work. Bugs that at times had those symptoms were fixed earlier.
Get green light on I2S 1 w nothing plugged into it.
Screen says input 1 is grounded (as is 2) with no I2S plug in 1.
