Thanks for this @vkennedy61. Your thoughtful and well laid out feelings are much appreciated.
As in all beta programs we have ever had, the work of the beta testers is really invaluable and taken in by the engineering team. Of course we don’t change the product in response to every request. For the changes we do accept, some are immediate, some are down the road, and some are applied to later versions that may come out.
Also, many of the 100 beta testers did not post their thoughts on these forums preferring instead to share directly with the team. In fact, that’s most of the feedback.
I was a bit surprised by your comment about the transition away from Paul. What’s that about? I am definitely involved in Octave (and multiple other projects) but I assure you I am every bit as involved with PS products as I have ever been. Perhaps it appears that way because I have been less vocal in these forums? I read every comment and discuss with the team, in some cases asking others to chime in.
I very much push for other team members to post when they have something to contribute. I don’t want this to be the Paul show (as it usually is). We are 50 people at PS and I really want the other team members to chime in.
That said, I have been quiet this week in particular because Terri and I are spending the week down in Mexico at a warm beach as our home’s upstairs floors are being sanded and revarnished. I am allowed by the powers that be to read and answer email for 1 hour in the morning before the computer shuts down.
In any case, I am not transitioning anywhere and am right in the thick of it.
First, I want to thank Ted and all the folks at PSA for giving me the opportunity to beta the MKII. I have had my unit since Dec 6th and have over 250 error free hours on the unit. Zero hum, no music delays, clicks, pops or malfunctions. I guess I got a good unit. I don’t have anything to feed it by I2s using it mostly fed by my Nucleus directly to USB (which is contrary to Roon reccomdations) but the sound is glorious! I have 2 dedicated circuits and everything is connected through Transparent Audio Power Isolators. The system is dead quiet.
Wishing Paul his staff and all the beta testers a joyous holiday season and a happy and safe New Year. (Bring on the AirLens!)
If there’s been any interpretation of anything that I have ever written that has been interpreted as racist you are very mistaken. It’s not crossed my mind, it never does. Frankly I could care less how any of you identify. All I care about is that people are decent.
Somehow my comment about having two topics, one for vanilla testing and one for tweaking has had some sort of racist overtone placed over it.
I actually dig how people identify. I love diversity, I find that the mashup of all sorts of people fantastic. I have traveled widely and find the more I see the more I celebrate difference.
You have done nothing wrong whatsoever. Absolutely no need to reproach oneself. Plain and simple. If one doesn’t agree with or support an opinion, theory, etc – like tweaks are a remedy for all ills, then one is labelled a hater or worse. ‘The Diversity Issue’ ~ ~ ‘tweaks have a place but they would be better served on a tweaking thread’. Beggars belief.!
I was talking about diversity of ideas and methods and what conclusions can be made. Singular narrow focus. And not being inclusive of ideas approaches differs from ones norm. Diversity is not about race gender or size but openness to all things. One tool one way. Hammer nail analogy. That doesn’t fit my mold go stand in that line and get out of here.
Jeez, how did we sink to this point? As a member of two hated groups this is a subject I’m very sensitive to, and believe it should not be dismissed as unimportant. However, I never sensed anything racist in Vince’s comments. Please, let’s get back to the mutual respect I’m used to on this forum!
Vmax, I have had sinus infections and even if I do not use antibiotics any time my sinuses act up my hearing goes to hell. I suffer from tinnitus and if I have sinus congestion the tinnitus goes through the roof. We all have to be aware of what impacts our hearing and avoid critical listening when our hearing is compromised.
It’s pretty challenging days, particularly on message boards, to avoid such things. I’ve always admired how PSA community is almost free of it.
This, like many, is borne of misunderstanding etc.
Our society is plagued by this stuff
