Lmao! No shame in my game!
Ok so didnât even make it through the first track and now I donât have sound. Just stopped playing. Tried different inputs and still nothing
Clearly thereâs something for PS Audio and me to look at with so many people having the Mk II go silent during playing. I donât even want to guess what it is without more information, but in the next couple of days I will be releasing new FPGA code with some changes that could have a remote chance of affecting this. Bob and I noticed something odd when trying some unrelated hardware changes a week or so ago that might be relevant, but weâll have to revisit it to make sure.
Please document all of the arm waiving you do, which ultimately results in music playing again.
TIA.
I just powered everything down and will try again in about 20 minutes.
Did your MK2 get very warm at all? When I turned it off yesterday with a similar problem, it was quite warm (warmer than DS). So far it is running cooler, but it is still early.
So it is not just me. I would have to say that yesterday it was considerably warmer than the mk1. Today it is not a warm. This concerns me for the life of the components.
Was only on for like 10 minutes and has plenty of ventilation.
Paul and Ted,
FYI/ We are having the same issue.

I too suggest caution for those with warm units or units that have gone silent until we find something definite. If your unit has gone silent more than once I suggest leaving it powered off. If your unit is warmer you might consider leaving it powered off.
If your unit isnât warm and itâs never gone silent Iâm pretty sure thereâs nothing to worry about.
Thanks for the reports, everyone. If your unit has gone silent, it might help me narrow things down if you can try some different inputs with only one input physically connected, but not USB or coax since they are slightly suspect. Also, if your unit has gone silent, letting us know how warm it was at that time might be helpful.
MK2 seems to run cooler so far than yesterday. Maybe when the little guy electron meeting the circuitry jungle for the first time, it takes more energy to cut through millions of little rough spots to find the right path. I donât know, I am not a tech guy so donât hold me to that theory.
Paul and Ted,
FYI/ We are having the same issue the music just stops.
Our Mk II doesnât seem overly warm, please remember it was sitting on, but no sound.
We have the unit turned off now until there is a trouble shooting idea or a fix.
Thank You

Ted I turned everything back on and is playing again. When I switch to optical for tv sound the little light in the top right corner is green and displays a incoming signal. When I switch to I2S the light turns red and have no incoming signal displayed. Any idea on this? Oops just switched back to I2S and lost sound again.
Thanks for the info. I donât know for sure what to make of it yet, but I have noted it.
Mine runs cool btw.
I tried USB, coax and optical. Both streaming and from a transport. Green light and correct bit rate/ resolution shows on the dac, but no sound.
The Dac was ever so slightly warm on the underside.
Turned it off and disconnected it.
Got the Mark II yesterday and breaking it in. So my first feedback is on the manual. What on earth is the little red light on the unit just above the volume value. There is no mention of this round red âlightâ in the manual anywhere. Its sometimes on and sometimes off. Canât correlate it to any function state the DAC is in.
Cudos for putting a picture of the back side of the DAC in the manual. Could is be a little larger so you could read all the text?
Page 4 of the manual shows a picture of the front and a nice big arrow pointing out the on/off/standby logo button. I think there should be another arrow pointing out the black button and name it MENU button since its reference dozens of times. Also maybe the other two undocumented lights on the front panel (wifi and little red light) Although the wifi functions take up several paragraphs in the reference the state of the light is never mentioned. On/off and maybe bars
The ethernet connection brings up another question. Should it be connected when your not downloading new software? I was told that the BridgeII card in the Mark I did introduce noise into the DAC. No mention whether the Ethernet port on the Mark ii is opto isolated. Just a thought.
One observation on the sound. The cold unit sounded nice but had a bloated bass sound. After a hour or two it went away. With the Mark 1 I used a Rythum sub wofer. But after listening a few hours I had to disconnect it since the Mark 2 was driving it much louder. OBtW I have FR30s and M1200/BHK pre.
Ted
Is there any way on the MK2 to record FPGA and chassis internal die temp for debug purposes?
Typically found on desktop motherboards
