Wow you are bringing out the heavy artillery!
My Rossini is on itās way!
Is it an Apex?
So nice! I have banned myself from listening to it.
Vince, take a look! Itās BLACK! I bet it sounds glorious @mursalin_hossain, let us know your thoughts.
Canāt wait to hear @jkrichards thoughts on the MKII/transformer combo vs DCS, since I should have the x formers soon. Not that Iām a DCS level buyer anyway, just fun to know how it stacks up to higher end gear.
Iām getting such amazing impact, bandwidth, power and deep bass by going direct from my MKII to BHK300, my system has never had such authority. Even at very low playback levels, the lower registers are fuller with more grunt, more explosive and have a firmer grip than ever before. I think the phase coherence really comes through the the coincident drivers of my tadās
Lol
@vkennedy61 @luca.pelliccioli I have banned myself from listening to anything from VTL, Jeff Rowland and MSB
But today is your Cake Day, you are allowed to do something crazy!
I missed your cake, but have a great day!
Go to the best audio shop nearby and listen to their best system is a good way to celebrate!
Silly man! It is hard to live with one elephant in the room, it will be impossible to live with three elephants in the room.
Happy cake day.
The event is in the experience, anticipation is just frustration in disguise.
It has been said denial is yet another form of fetish. BTW, after searching I found a cake you may enjoy from a distance. Happy Cake Day!
Enjoy your belated cake day, not so different Paul.
@jkrichards I had not listened to my DS MK2 without a preamp or without -20dB attenuators at the end of XLR cables direct to a power amp since New Years. Thought I would give it a try again today going direct to my Class-D Purifi amp and on to 90dB 4-Ohm speakers. Got excessive hissing again. Do you have any insight into the source of the noise? I do not have this problem with a Sabre-based exaSound S88 DAC. I do not have this problem with a Bricasti M1 DAC. The -20dB attenuators make it go away. As does using a preamp.
PS: I tried as well with a Class-D NCore amp and some lesser 4-Ohm speakers. Same deal.
Happy anniversary/cake day adifferentpaul!

Without a proper schematic it would be difficult to find the exact source of the noise tho It sounds like something in the analog board is causing it. It may be that the transformerās secondary windings were wired in series instead of parallel as it was designed however when we measured our MK2 with the nickel transformers it did not effect the noise measurements vs the stock transformers. The output impedance of the nickel transformers are much lower then the stock units so in theory it should lower the noise in real world conditions.
Yes. I thought the MK2 has allot of settings. This DAC beats it by a large margin. I do however, like all the filter settings.
Because itās a dCS, Iām going to give @mursalin_hossain a get out of jail pass this one time.
