There is no Jr option. only the direct stream is available for the $3500 rebate. They also give the addition $3,399 for this option. The Jr was not worth that much.
The next option for trade in is the $2500 option for non-PS audio products.

I would contact them to see what they would offer for a trade in on the Junior. The amount they give and the balance you would have is based on the original list price. Only those who traded in a Direcstream and the Bridge 2 card would have the $3399 balance.
Right thats what I mean. I would hope they would give me the $3500 trade in. I think it would be very sad if they didnāt give a returning customer that optionā¦
I doubt you would get $3500 as the Junior did not cost $6000 like the Directstream did.
Instead of speculating, call.
Sent an email. Everyone is out of the office when I called. Fingers crossed
DSJ msrp was $4k by end I believe
I found in a review it was $3999. So yes $4000.
Has anyone who doesnāt work for PS Audio actually compared the sound of the MK IIs to the Mk Is yet? Or has everybody just shipped their MKIs off for trade in so that no side-by-side comparison has been possible?
I know that at least one member claims to have compared to an extensively modified MK1 to the MKIIs and stated that the MKIIs definitely outperform even the extensively modified MKIs. But he did not provide any details regarding in what regards he found the MKIIs to sound superior.
Iām really interested in learning how the MK IIs sound better; especially how these sound better than the modified MKIs. I know that these are better in theory, but I really want to know how these sound better in practice.
Once I put the mk 2 in my system it was very hard to go back to the mk 1. Voices are fuller and more realistic. Depth, Width And Height are all improved. Instruments sound like they are present and clearly defined in space. I did put it back in but for a very brief comparison. My mk 1 was stock. I have heard it said that Darren
Myers has a fully modified mk 1 and he said the mk 2 with only 20 hours on it blew it away. Darren is an analog guy, so that says allot.
Iām excited to hear all the reviews as well
For me, itās almost impossible to grasp how terrific the dac 2 is. The dac 1 sounded impressively good and I could have been satisfied with that. The 2 is simply in another league. Better, much better than sounding great, itās as if somehow Ted has found an entry into another reality and truth of sound. Wow to the wowth!
Will be interesting to see the reviews come out for this unit (and see what comparisons are made to the MKI).
Maybe this thread will capture it, where the 300 others have not.
Agreed⦠everyone is calling for the same thing lol
Has anyone ran the bitperfect files ted has provided for the mki on the mkii? Is their a bitperfect indication on the mkii display (check-mark equivalent?). I didnāt think to try them until this morning. Thanks!
The bitperfect test for the Mk II will be a little different. It will also allow configuration of the Dual AES input and it will have different information in the left and right channels so that things like channel inversion can be detected. Barry and I have to coordinate the changes to the UI and the changes to the test files. At this point I have no idea what the old test will do in the current Mk II software. The FPGA code has been reverted to the DS Mk I test, but I donāt know the state of the UI code.
This is not true. His DS1 was stock.
It was one of the guys from PS Audio that had reported his DS was fully modded. Knowing Darren I would tend to believe that. I am not about to name names.
I prefer a properly designed and engineered product over a kludged unit any day. External power supplies with the long cables and connectors cannot compete with low impedance properly designed built in regulators. Just because something sounds different does not necessarily mean better.
