I’m looking at a new CD transport to use with my AudioNoteKit 3.1 DAC. It does not have the I2S input, so my basic question is this: Will the DirectStream transport with a great coax cable be as good or better than another great CD transport connected with coax? Or do I really need the I2S to get the most bang for the buck? (I currently use a Vecteur L4 as transport and am auditioning the Atoll dr200se and Audiolab 9000cdt.) Thanks in advance!
For redbook cds . . . I think the coaxial output is almost indistinguishable from the I2S with a great cable. You won’t be able to play back SACD however with DSD quality.
Thanks so much for that. Luckily, I don’t have any SACDs!
