I would grade this record as unfair to poor-
It is nice to see some share their hobby with the family .
3 weeks in with my new Planar 10/Apheta 3 cartridge, and I can’t stop playing records. It’s just an astonishingly great performer.
Congratulation! Great TT.
Incredible combination.
The tonearm on the P10 is quite frankly a work or art / genius, it’s truly phenomenal.
It really is, and such a joy to use-the freedom from friction and the feel and look of it is really something to behold. My old deck is a Pro-Ject Xtension 10, and the P10 beats it handily in nearly every parameter-I certainly don’t miss waiting 30 seconds for for that big, heavy platter to come to speed, and know I won’t miss schlepping that beast over to the kitchen table when it comes time for a cartridge install!
Yes, I have a turntable. And a killer phono stage. And I’m loving vinyl again, to the point that I’m done spending any money on digital. My PST/DSD" do it" for me.
And streaming only sounds good if one spends what I consider ridiculous money. And even then, vinyl kills it.
So if I need an upgrade, it’ll be a new cartridge or tonearm.
My humble Rega Planar 3 2016 with GrooveTracer reference sub platter, the old TTPSU and a Dino Mk 3 Phono stage with Dino+ PSU. This is the bulk of my listening other than digital streamers around the house for convenience. I adore my record deck.
Posted in system pictures before, hasn’t changes a bit since; one table, two carts, Hana SL still on the 12" tune-arm (It has been pretty good to me), haven’t tried out the Purple Heart yet; 50 / 50 between Vinyl and CD/SACD, enjoy collecting and listening to both type of media; But, I do feel a bit special and drawn to when playing vinyl.
A person of great, discriminating taste!
The Purple Heart is a very sweet sounding pickup. It has midrange that you won’t want to go without.
The J2 is extremely musical. Are you using the HPA-1 as a preamp?
Thanks, yes I am using HPA-1 as pre-amp and it has good synergy with J2 and rest of system, plus, as you can see I run out of room for adding new stuff! (was thinking upgrading to larger Pass 32). I would say this HPA-1 is a bit underrated for it’s pre-amp capability.
I’ve been using Pass for years. I’ve been through and currently own many First Watt/Pass amps and preamps. I’ve never been disappointed. I’m most fond of his .5 amps.
Wait, you guys open and play your records???!!!
Don’t be silly Al, how are you going to play your record if you don’t open it?
