Does computer internet speed effect sound quality?

My internet provider increased my internet speed from 75 to 250 today. Would this effect the sound quality of my streaming or is it just coincidence that I am getting better sound? Any suggestions would be appreciated. I seem to be getting better sound but it could be ac quality, the weather or what I have eaten today. These factors can affect how I hear music in my experience.

The speed of your internet connection will not impact sound quality as long as it has enough bandwith to buffer your streaming music. So going up in speed will definitely not make it worse.

Changing the hardware of your Internet router could theoretically have an influence if an inferior power supply or other components have been built into it and, at the same time, depending on whether your router can pass on any interference from these inferior components to your streamer. This depends on how your network is set up or how your streamer deals with it (galvanic isolation?).

I would argue that all Internet routers are not optimized for audio and that there are no significant differences between different routers in this respect. In other words: If you were fine with it before, you will be fine with any other router. :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

I suspect the biggest difference regarding router is the WAN link - if it’s metalic (like DSL/cable) it could bring lot of noise to your network. Fiber is preferred.
The other thing is to not have underpowered cpu in router as in extreme situation it can itself then add signifficant jitter or errors to your traffic
