Hello.
Just got a Directstream mk1 DAC. It has Sunlight installed, but would like to try the other firmwares. Can’t seem to find them on Ps Audio’en site.
How do I get them?
Amazing unit, especially in Low Gain mode! Very very impressive.

The only firmware I see for the MK1 is Sunlight. At some point before the recent forum update I did see versions prior to Sunlight. I lived with all of them and I recall that Sunlight was overall the most balanced and most transparent. My memory is that the closest sound quality were Windom and Snowmass with Windom more laid back and Snowmass more upfront. Sunlight is more refined and more detailed than the others, YMMV.
I would recommend that you stick with Sunlight and not enter the firmware comparison maze. There are at least 18 different firmware versions, 4 variants for Snowmass alone. Another point is that the Mk1 could be finicky with firmware updates and would sometimes lock up and be difficult to get operating again.
However if you do want to try other firmware I have them and can send the zip files.

For me, the last update was the best. I believe I have all the updates on my computer so I may be able to help you with your issue.

Can’t believe they removed all the legacy firmwares. What was the thinking there, or lack of?

We didn’t “remove” the legacy firmware, when we built the new website we didn’t get around to adding it back. My apologies. It’s high on my list of what to fix and I promise to get it back again.

I can’t speak to the Bridge II firmware because I have the original version nor to the DS Jr. but yes, thank you, everything else for the Mk 1 seems to be there, Your efforts are much appreciated.

You’re welcome. I believe that’s about everything we have n file for MK1 and MKII and so on. If someone does find something missing just let me know and I’ll go back into the archives and rummage around.

Hi Paul, is there more than one firmware for the BHK Pre? I don’t recall any discussion of a “new” firmware but want to be sure. For reference my unit has “Jake Blues”.
One other comment, a lot of the firmware has the same “Last update” date, December 20, 2025. Probably when you loaded them, but that’s somewhat confusing, especially for the AirLens. The five listed for AirLens have a numerical order, except for v.3.10, should that be v.3.1.0? Also, no ConversDigital updates? I recall some discussion of not installing them through their app, but where do you get them?
That’s a really good set of points. I will endeavor to go back and update the dates and fix that one. Thanks for the help.

if I had a penny for every time I see a content management system updated / migrated etc. and they lose all the file creation dates - I would have about 37 pence.
But still…
‘rsync’ is the way if available on your platform of choice
