Eagerly Awaiting The Third Week of April!

I’m wondering, does that 3rd week start on April 14th or 21st? >:)

Hahaha. I am leaving for vaca on the 15 and not back for two weeks. North Carolina here we come . I was hoping to have it to bring , but I know it’s beyond wishful thinking.

Al

I need to know when to start checking my email every five minutes! :))

I remember Paul originally saying April 15th.

It’d be a nice birthday present if I got it before the start of May. <:-P

Indeed, I was thinking the same thing. Technically, it should be the 14th, but.... [-O<

And the answer is…?! Being awfully quiet about that. Methinks it’ll be the 21st.

Comments from the big guy?

Parts arriving next week. They are prepping chassis now. We still plan on shipping 50 kits and 100 DACs.

When you say 'parts,' does that mean parts to stuff into PWBs, or completed PWBs?

Woo-hoo! Paul, what's the expected build / test / ship turnaround time once parts arrive?

We don't need no stinking build or test. Don't care if it sounds good or even works. I just want those boards!

To be first listen checked on the reference system before shipping.... right?

@oddeophile

That would add another month. I am sure they bench test them though.

Let’s go back to Paul’s earlier statement the first 100 units will be checked for sonics against the reference. DS on the IRS then later units will be following normal QC protocols. If that’s changed I wanna know. That was the sole determining factor for me to plunk down several thousand large for one from the first set out the door. If that’s no longer the case I need to know now.

I’m wondering how the first 50 DIY kits are going to be checked.

Hopefully by me when inrec mine. Its nice for ps audio to say they will test it. But thebtruth is for i do not care if its done. I am sure all the parts are tested invidualy during manu factoring. Or complete moduals .

There is not that many boards or partrs fpr us to playwith either. So in the end i do not really know what or who is doing anything. The only concern i have is reciving mine. As i own the pwdand are very familiar with its sound. The new one will quickly apparent when i hear it. As with all things like this , my only negative is the wait and fears of dealys .

@tony22 @oddeophile

Since I am not there I can’t answer for them but I’m sure that multiple listening stations are available with benchmark capabilities to verify proper continuity. A sampling could then make it to the “big rig”.

As for kits, QC verifications at the part suppliers as well as at the receiving end are usually strict enough to Spot any abnormalities. What is in the kits is also in the complete units so there can be an efficient and equitable process.

That’s not the point, now, is it? The SOLE reason I pre-ordered and plunked down my very hard earned cash 2months early to obtain this was that Paul stated the first 100 units will be individually run on the reference system@ PSA to verify there are no unit-unit variations. Period. Otherwise, I could care less if I got it next week or 6 months from now. If PSA is not going to do what they said they’d do for the first 100 units, then somebody’s gonna get my #2 spot in line as I am going to pull my pre-order as it makes no difference then if it comes in now or months later. The fact they’d be checked one on one with the reference system is a big deal folks (just ask ARC owners - each unit is individually run on their reference system before they go out to verify sonic quality).

The last thing I want is a $6K unit that had to be rushed through production and bench testing, not listening to its sonic quality and rushed out the door to meet immediate demand rather than following through with the statements made for the first 100 units. Makes no diff to me if I get it months from now to be honest. I’d rather obtain one that went through production without being forced out the door, if you all must know.

So far, all I hear is hyperbole from members, not PSA. Paul, care to chime in and confirm please?

For those that are frequenting here now but are not long time PSA forum members, like myself, who beta tested the PWD when it came out years ago, don’t chime in unless you know. I’d rather the comments are made from those that actually know what’s happening, to be honest.

Odd

Quote from Paul on February 28, 2014, in the Direct Stream Pricing, Trade-ups and Options thread on the forum:

I quote:

“We will do our best to ramp up production as quickly as we can to meet demand. This is not an easy product to build and each of the first 100 units will be listen tested in Music Room One to make sure they are spot on. After that, we will do AQL listen testing to each production batch to ensure what we hear is what you hear.” -

Are we getting the picture now, folks?

Yeah, if you don’t care, fine, but I do, and frankly, this will in all likelihood be the last DAC I buy. I have to begin thinking about retirement funding at my age.

Odd

A couple of answers we all care if its listened to , even me and i said i did not. Just not as much as most.

Next never say never its just never true hahahaha.
