I just got my copy of Audiophile’s Guide: The Stereo, and the phrase “having a stereo was non-negotiable” in the Introduction reminded me of the time, probably in the late 70s, that I saw Ken Kesey and Paul Krassner at St. Mark’s Church in the East Village of Manhattan. I specifically remember Krassner saying, “Everyone wants the Revolution to come, but not until they get a good stereo system.”
