To be honest the A8 sounds really good and the software responds perfectly. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if the A10 sounded just as good if not much better. Furthermore, the remote control now, on this new unit, is very nice, OCXO clock, ES9039PRO, SFP Fiber Network Interface etc… in short, a lot of stuff… We’ll hear…
Now that right there is Audio Porn.
Seems to be a solid build and great value for an all in one solution.
Not sure the glass top version is the actual release but I like the looks. This has me intrigued at least Looks like they are taking deposits etc but release sometime in Q4? I’ll be following for sure.
The A12 will be planned for Q2 of 2025.
And it will be received in Rave reviews including about superior performance over the 10. It will come with the glass top and the 10 resale price will drop to 1500 bucks.
That is a sobering thought. Takes some wind out of the sails!
The version with glass is only for display, if you notice it is written on it.
They also did it for the A8 when it came out
The connect wires circled in blue concern me.
And the incoming power wires seem dainty, and they terminate in a tiny jack with tiny contacts. No need to use an 8 ga. power cable to feed this unit.
Just a thought.
That’s a good observation.
Guess I’m not sure what you expected to see? Its a streamer/pre/dac box. Cant be a ton of power needed to drive this.
What am I missing?
Does the Rose pictured above look better?
I like the fact that they are soldered to the board for the connectors. Not some clip that is just for easy connection and disconnect.
If you look inside the wiring of the famous competitors costing 18k you’ll be scared… I won’t name names. Proving that that’s not what makes the difference. The designers know what they are doing.
This looks really nice, but I keep thinking I’d like to see an Eversolo similar to the AirLens.
High-quality streamer only, with no DAC.
I think the Grimm is just a budget Rose with a insane price tag…
I agree with ya but the market eats this up. Properly done, these internal chip dacs will probably satisfy 90% of the customers. Definitely top end mid fi and maybe a little beyond. But if you have a decent 5k+ dac and up, combined with the right equipment im sure there is room for improvement.
I always avoided chip dacs in favor of r2r or fpga but these ESS ones are pretty dang good. Or at least the implementation thereof. Maybe that has gotten way better as well
yah, i use a DMP-A6 into my Denafrips Pontus II, so it’s no big deal to bypass the Eversolo’s internal DAC. Sounds just fine to my ears, so I don’t really NEED them to make anything else.
I think you are too easily upset by my post.
First I said the Eversolo was Audio Porn.
Then I brought up a few details that caught my eye.
My major point concerns our desire to buy 3 inch diameter power cables with 6 ga. solid copper wires to supply a small amount of voltage to devices that don’t have 6 ga. solid copper wires going from the power jack to the internal devices. That is my main point.
That may be what you missed.
Also, in the photo of the Grimm MU2 the power inlet and cables are not visible.
Thanks for playing though!
P.S. I think the DAC in my Eversolo DMP-A6 is very nice. I am an Eversolo Fanboy.
Exactly. I am trying my Jr vs the internal. I don’t really need to but once I get a pre and the system re-sorted, it will be easier to compare.
