Sorry… My bad. My sarcasm was mis - interpreted. I’m just poking fun at the sometimes infinite amount of humor that I find in this hobby. I’m definitely not upset and sorry if I came off that way.
And case in point- you are dead on. We got 3in diameter cables to make sure our 12v power supplies are properly fed. And for gosh sakes, put a fuse in there! I never thought of it that way. Even I have a Hurricane for my amp. Never thought of one for my pre though.
If I had to choose by pics, the Rose looks a lot more of what I would want to pay money for. However there is obviously more to the Grimm than meets the eye or you guys would not pay 18k+ and rave about it.
I may be a fan boy too but really interested in comparison to Rose. Guess no way to tell untill I get them both in the same room. Both look like great units and the Eversolo has very good specs.
Eversolo just announced 2 new features. They are bringing their room correction down to the A8 (not sure about the A6 series) and now this:
Eversolo’s Global Music Collection is a feature that allows users to browse and search for music across multiple music services and their local music library:
Collection Center: Users can browse their music collection across various services in the Eversolo Control app’s Collection Center.
Global Music Search: Users can search across multiple music services at once with the DMP-A10.
Music Library: Users can create a personalized music database with their local music, including album covers, artists, and introductions. Users can also add local or network storage music files to their library.
Eversolo’s Global Music Collection supports the following music services:
TIDAL, Qobuz, TuneIn Radio, Amazon Music, Deezer, IDAGIO, and KKBOX.
Roon copy cat. Not bad for software that is free with device.
roninaudio, ESS chips have definitely come a long way… and yes, the DAC architecture used and how its implemented does go a long way. Tom Moller and his team’s design for the Gryphon 333’s DAC-3 Module uses the ES9039PRO Sabre DAC chip and if you have had the chance to listen to it in a proper room with complimenting equipment… it sounds both Sublime and Fantastic…
Great point, thank you. It is in both the A10 and 333. That certainly demonstrates the potential of the chip and the importance of how its implemented.
In addition to the Sabre ES9039PRO, on the DMP A10 there are also the best oscillators available today which certainly contribute positively to the overall performances.
Why don’t you just try the DMP-A6 from Amazon for 30 days bypassing the DAC and see if it works for you. If not just send it back. If it works then just update the PS and it’s DAC will be a bonus backup. It’s really pretty good. The only other thing close from my experience is the Holo Red which I own and really like. Like with the AirLens no software suite.
I bought the A8 to try to see what the hype was about. I figured I was going to return it, but ended up keeping it. It has become the digital hub for my amp and DAC addiction. It feeds a tube amp from RCA, a BHK Preamp via XLR and an external DAC via USB. The EQ and room correction features are added bonuses which I haven’t played with yet.
The software works really well. I installed a 4TB drive in it and loaded up my flac and DSD files (I have a lot of room to grow). it can connect to my Plex library, but this is no longer needed with the hard drive installed.
The AKM4499 DAC is very good and the analog preamp section is good as well. My TT sounds great through the A8. It’s a solid preamp when connected directly to a power amp or active speakers. As a streamer it’s excellent with its own DAC or feeding an external DAC.
I’m sounding like an EverSolo fan boy. I don’t think I’ll be upgrading to the A10. I am very happy with the A8 as my digital source.
I’ve never been tempted to replace my A6 ME as well. Eversolo makes good stuff. I’m curious what Qobuz play will bring to the table, if it’s ever released. The Eversolo app is really good but I miss a few features that the Qobuz native app provides- like the radio function.
They have been asked multiple times over the last year and a half by multiple people to activate the auto play feature in Qobuz, which is available in the API, but seem to be more interested in new gimmicks like more VU meters. When I use the A-6 nowadays I more often than not use JPlay for IOS which has auto play for both Tidal and Qobuz plus a radio function that allows you to enter URLs for Internet Radio stations including FLAC and Hi-Res one. It is more like Roon without the high yearly cost and extra equipment.
JPlay is $50 a year. $149 lifetime as opposed to $829. Try it free for a month and see if it works for you. I have used it on streamers from Auralic, Teac, Eversolo, iFi and Holo.
Intriguing. So im definitely watching the A10. Im just not sure at this point if its worth ditching my Hifi Rose. While the GUI on the Rose is great overall, its odd on Qobuz. I have to run Qobuz thru the Rose app and its clunky.
Is Jplay an alternative? Looks Windows based so I assume loaded on PC? However your post above sounds like you were able to use it on different platforms?
