If you have an Eversolo streamer, you might have figured out that you can add an M2 memory stick to the unit. I added one, and I copied over my library when I got it, using a little USB drive that I temporarily attached to the back of the unit. (This is one of the drives I use for regular backups.)
But I’ve added tons of files to my library since then, and I’d like to be able to easily/automatically/regularly copy over new files.
I’m on a mac, and I use Carbon Copy Cloner to copy files that I’ve ripped to my backup drives, but I can’t seem to load the SMB_samba drive from the Eversolo to the CCC destinations. Would love to add that to the nightly schedule to clone the library to that drive.
Anyone figured this out? (I feel like @aangen might have! )
I can see the SMB_samba drive, but it only shows a “share” folder, and nothing else. Permissions issue? (To clarify, the “SMB_samba” drive is the eversolo MMC drive, and I can see it from the Mac Mini that houses the music library.)
To be fair, I hardly ever use that drive to play music, but I like the idea of having one more backup. And if my roon server gets flaky or whatever, I can use the eversolo app and have an alternate way to play the files.
I did it once, and then took out. I have a NAS and its always there. Roon uses it. All systems use it. If I had remote place no internet or access to NAS, sure would make sense.
I copied from NAS to drive just to see how it worked and then sent it back to amazon as I had no value for it.
I put a 4TB M2 in my A6. Using Windows I have no problem connecting to it for file management. It is in one of my cabin systems. No NAS there. It works nicely.
The 2TB drive you installed is an M2 class drive. M2 drives all have the same circuit card interface. They come in various lengths and storage space. I put a 4TB M2 drive in my A6. 4 TB is the maximum amount of storage memory you can put in an A6. I picked a great one that cost $135 new from Amazon.
Thank you for clarifying! I actually just realized that i also installed a 4TB SSD M2 drive. I had thought it was smaller for some reason…
Do you have any issues with the Eversolo app not recognizing certain types of files? I can play any file on my drive, but 1/3 of them don’t show the cover art, artist/track name on the app…seems like a glitch.
Pretty much only have FLAC files, so haven’t experienced any issues there. I know I have a few albums that are made of of WAV files, so I’ll check it out. What kinds of files are causing issues?
Odd thing about the CCC clone… It cloned just fine, but it does take a while. After the first clone, I added a few new rips to the library, so i thought I’d run it again. Normally CCC will see what files have changed, and just add those, not touching the others. But for this one, it re-cloned everything. Looked at the settings and they’re the same for all tasks.
No biggie, as I’m not updating the M2 drive often, but just curious behavior.
