I originally bought the T8 and Z10 DAC to replace my Airlens and SGD but the Z10’s I2S inputs went bad so I put the SGD back in and preferred the sound to the Z10. I returned the Z10 and put the money towards the new Technics SL1210GME.
Since I was on a upgrade path I ordered the PMG PRE but PS Audio sent me the 512 uh-oh, now I want to keep it so I am comparing the T8 to the internal 512 streamer. I kind of like the T8 better seems a little clearer maybe not as full.
Plus the 512 streamer keeps disappearing in my Qobuz connect app, so I have to power down my phone and the 512 to get it to work again and that sometimes doesn’t work. I am on wifi only and I am totally not a network pro, so it is frustrating.
I will get the preamp tomorrow if I get to the UPS store but I am having sinus synoplasty today not looking forward to that
By the way, I really wanted the T8 to equal or better the 512’s streamer. It is such a lovely device with a great control app. But, other than playing internet radio, ultimately I knew the T8 would get no use in my system—and I don’t really listen to internet radio.
Yeah that’s a dilemma for me also because I like the Radio Paradise and streaming local channels and I am not great at computer apps etc to try to use another app that provides them. I installed Mconnect lite and I can’t even get the 512 to show up
I tried both the free and paid versions of mconnect, as well as the free trial of JPlay. I ended up paying for JPlay to stream from my UPnP server and Qobuz because it’s heads and shoulders better than mconnect.
If I’m honest, and though it works well with Qobuz, I only use JPlay for UPnP and the Qobuz app for Qobuz Connect because I feel the UI is better for Qobuz than JPlay’s UI.
