That doesn’t sound promising … I got the two extra ones in November, no supply issue then!
The Herbis seem to use some kind of rubber. The Gaia’s are probably constructed similarly, only packaged more nicely. SSC hah started with rope suspensions and now uses a tissue. The new Big Magic uses 3 fabrics and additional magnets that repel each other and thus additionally suppress vibrations. My dealer recommended the Finte elements to me when I asked. But he doesn’t have SSC. Donald maybe it will work out that you get SSC. If these are well suited then it would be nice if PS Audio would check them out and perhaps add them to the range as an accessory. Then it would be easier for you. But maybe a dealer will agree to send them. I’ll check with my dealer again to see if it’s possible to get these and ship them to you. Greetings Andreas
Thank you for checking, and you maybe right that the materials SSCs are using maybe superior.
You gave me a new idea with your feet. For mine I could easily replace my current one with Gaia. According to reports, Gaia are said to have a good effect. The price for heavy speakers is a deterrent. Gaia 1 or Titan. With the SSC I would first have to screw on suitable spikes. But that would also be an idea. Maybe another source here.
Well, l put in an order with The Cable Co. on something else and found that they are selling Herbie Giant Glider. So, I ordered those at the same time. I have no idea if they have them in stock. If they need to ship from manufacture then, as far as I know, they are in back order.
So, I need to hold off on SSC and wait for the status on Herbie. I may order SSC later if Herbies are not available.
I took a look at the Herbie’s glider as well. I could be wrong but it seems to work in conjunction with a flat bottom speaker. It is your intention to remove the threaded spikes and set them on these pads? If not, I don’t see how the spike would sit nice on these devices, let alone help in vibration control. Please prove me wrong cause I would love a low cost glider with vibration control for my 30’s.
There are several different types from Herbie. The one you want is called Cone/Spike Decoupling Glider. Then you can select different size and materials in menu. This type is the one to use for RF-30 (or 20).
Got it. See them now. Let us know if C.C. has them but I think they ship them from the factory. Thanks for setting me straight.
My speakers are similarly slim and deep in shape to the FR. Not that the speakers tend to swing too easily. Conversely, high-rise buildings in earthquake zones are also built on vibrating foundations
I believe I went with the stainless steel version because the titanium ones were out of stock at the time (around January 2023). I’ve been happy with them but don’t really have anything to compare them to.
I put in an order for the titanium version through The Cable Company. We will see if they can deliver.
Oh…sure…titanium bits and bobs; but there is just no room in the budget for a SDFB.
I surely do not want to find out that all my investments on fuses are wasted.
I have one now, I’m using it on my P15 and have Audio Magic M-1 and SR Purple fuses throughout, it replaces an M-1. What I say it would do is enhance the sound characteristics of all your other fuses, not waste your investment in them. I’m quite happy with what the SDFB did to my system.
