Yup, that’s what we’re focusing on.
I have DMP for more than two years in my system and in general have no issue with cover art / display / function; Unless it is something pretty rare, DMP will find and display disc and track info. However, majority of my collections don’t have cover art displayed; I collects more SACDs now and appreciate a decent transport in my system. Very interested to see how much sound quality improvement of the new transport will bring.
Do you realize that if you don’t see cover art you can go to your playlist on PS Audio and add it. You don’t have to scan anything in yourself go to Amazon look up the album and save the image. You than can upload it to the playlist. Of course to do this you must have the disk you want to edit in your DMP. All my disks display cover art even the ones I created myself. I enjoy working with this.
Hi Paul. I was excited by the YouTube video. Then I realized I have only one sacd disk. But boy is it a good one. PINK Floyd’s DARK SIDE OF THE MOOM. So I guess me and my JBL speakers can’t benefit from the beta test. Just kidding. Love your products.
I wonder from Paul’s YouTube video, the drive mechanism looks like Marantz SACDM-3 transport mechanism in SA-KI Ruby?
Good for you!
Indeed. And as soon as you stop looking at stuff and devote that chunk of attention to audio - it stops being background and moves to the foreground. Much as with thoughts of frequency response, wires, etc.
That is easy to achieve even with the touch screens by using the dim feature. I don’t keep my displays lit when I am listening but I sure do want to see what I like when I start out.
I want to know how the Sony copy protection is going to be satisfied when using another DAC other than PS Audio. Especially with the double rate DSD. Is that only going to work for DVD disks that you make yourself. Obviously SACD standard is single rate. Will the PST export the SACD layer to other brand dacs?
How would you not know what it is that you put in the drawer when you start out?
Terrence
Do you have the link to this video? I searched Paul’s videos back for a couple of months and could not find anything
Thanks
It’s going to do exactly like your DMP does as the licensing hasn’t changed.
I’m not aware of any commercial double rate DSD discs, so I’m a little bewildered as to the need for this feature (please enlighten me if someone knows otherwise). Creating a single rate DSD disc, i.e., a “burned” SACD is a task I am not familiar with, though I recall a discussion of it some time back. If you can burn a single or double rate DSD disc, similar to a burned CD, then I doubt there will be copyright protection on it so it’s a non-issue. Otherwise, as dawkinsj said, “It’s going to do exactly like your DMP”.
It is not the same drive from the SA-KI/SA-10. I asked already and Paul confirmed it’s the standard Marantz/SA-10
Here is the link to the YouTube video
Of course you know what you inserted. I Like to see it displayed than if it is a disk that I do not have the track titles memorized I can skip to the track I want to play without having to listen to the beginning of each track.
The standard for SACD is single rate the only way you re going to get a disk that is double rate will be to make a DVD of tracks that you have downloaded. I have recorded DVD’s of music I have made DSD DOP disks that play in the original PWT too. Single rate of course.
I thought that would be the case. Seems like allot of effort to set the PST up for double rate DSD as very FEW will be bothered to record their own disks far fewer than bothered to set up the internet to utilize the cover art and track list. I am glad they dropped the initial idea of putting in DSP options to spice up poorer sounding recordings.
The PST can handle datadiscs with double rate as well as a USB stick in the front which too can handle files containing double rate DSD. SACDs only have single rate, as you know.
Thanks. I see it is SACD-M3 transport mechanism same as Marantz SA-10.
