On top of all that, we’re also pretty cool folk and we want to help build the best system with the customer possible. If you catch one of us on the phone and we get to know you, we’ll do our best to prevent funds being what stops us from building that system. Give us a call and get to know us.
I’ve had phone & email experience with a couple of members of the PS Audio support team; always a first class, problem solved, experience.
Thanks, Jamesh, I have been doing just that watching Ask Paul’s and now participating here. I am impressed by the atmosphere of the company and I may be able to upgrade to PS Audio gear one day. I just need to determine bang for the buck and whether I can afford what is being offered. I have heard other manufacturer’s stuff that I know I like, I have not heard any PS Audio in person. Just through Ask Paul on my PC which does not say anything. I am not completely ready to buy, as I am gathering information.
This is why I use PayPal 90 day no interest. I leave my money in the bank for 90 days and then pay it off when the bill is due.
That seems to be a viable solution.
Thanks, never get tired of hearing that!
Very smart and you’re doing the right thing by taking your time. There are a lot of knowledgeable guys on here that can help you along the way, so you’re definitely in the right place.
Hey James—Would you mind taking at look at my question on Ask the Experts re my BHK pre?
I’m with Elk. Buy a home with a mortgage, but otherwise, if you can’t afford it, don’t buy it.
I have two cards, one provides me with free travel insurance, phone insurance and vehicle recovery (and a lot of other things), the other with airmiles. Both are paid in full monthly by direct debit with no interest or charges, ever. The fact that you don’t get any interest on your money these days makes it pointless playing the fee credit game. Living off unnecessary credit must be awful, and audio equipment is not necessary.
I had a valve amplifier that I could not sell and after a year someone turned up desperate for it. We did a deal and then he told me he was borrowing money to buy it. I was torn and did not want to put him in debt, but was keen to sell. I sold and still feel bad about it.
When I sold my valve phono amp the buyer asked if I minded if he could pay from his business account so his wife did not know about it. That did not give me a problem. Mine has more sense than to ask.
Yep, I’ve dealt with PSA numerous times and they’ve always been very helpful and accommodating. They have pretty rare CS for being a relatively small, high end company. PSA offering this forum is also very helpful, I’ve had Paul personally answer inquiries for me. Very cool.
Yes Paul seems very involved, he even responded here early in the thread. Everything I see says it is a great company, I have now to determine if it works for me.
As for some on here who said to only used credit for a house or car, although that is good advice, neither owning a house nor car is required. Just as owning a high end HiFi system is not required. You can rent a very nice home and live in a neighborhood that has public transit etc. I have read that you should not own a home for investment reasons only, since you can get better returns from the stock market. That all of these things are choices. I may choose to buy a car with cash for as little as possible and finance the ultimate HiFi system because I get more out of the HiFi system than I would a car. It is all choices.
Very good point!
Thank you
Funny that you say that. I just saw an old friend who couldn’t care less about cars. His hifi is worth probably 100 times his car. He’s a happy guy.
As Nietzsche said: “Without music life would be a mistake.” If one happens to be a passionate music lover, a decent HiFi may be ranked much higher as most of the usual stuff other people consider important. What is unnecessary luxury, is completely up to you. I for example don’t own a car, if I need one, I rent it. Or use public transportation. The cost-benefit factor of owning a car, payed cash or not, would be well into the unnecessary luxury department for me. On the other hand, the music I listen to every day is food. But yes, I live in the first world…
