First music of the day

Enjoying another cool morning–got to sleep in a bit more as well, a good thing.

Starting off with Marcos Ariel “Alone with Jobim,” a great solo piano disc.

After a day of Bob Dylan The Band seemed to be a fine way to kick-off a sunny Saturday on the lake.

Up early again. . . and it’s not as cool as I’d like it to be.

Haven’t spun any of the Herbie Nichols Project releases in a long spell. Overdue!

This one may be my favorite.

Immanuel Wilkins - Omega featuring Micah Thomas, Daryl Johns, Kseku Sumbry. Wilkins’warm and melodic tone buoyed by Micah’s fine piano playing fits my Sunday morning vibe nicely. Omega is a fine first effort on the Blue Note label from Mr. Wilkins.

Okay, she finally settled down. I’m enjoying the cool morning while it lasts. Should stay fairly cool, mid-seventies, today. . . but plenty of rain expected.

Shifting to Big Blue, Bob Dylan, “The Cutting Edge” disc 5.

“I’m in the kitchen with the tombstone blues.” Love take 1.

Fiona the dachshund got me up really early, then let me go back to sleep a few hours, thankfully.

Starting the day off with another Tom Harrell. His music really gets to me. . . in part because his trumpet sound is very close to my best friend’s.

One may ask, well has Clark Terry ever played with…
Proof in the pudding on Things Ain’t What They Used to Be with Cecil Taylor - Buell Neidlinger New York City R&B, an original November 1971 Barnaby Records release of a January 9 & 10, 1961 Candid session. The full set is available in my Mosaic Box The Complete Cecil Taylor on Candid.
Story goes according to Chuck Nessa at the last minute Don Cherry was unavailable and Clark Terry offered to fill in.

A stuffy night. Glad to be in the cooler zone at last.

Now disc 2 of this wonderful set. Music full of grace and beauty and exquisitely engineered.

Being in the mood for some old school blues, this tripple CD set Living Country Blues fits the bill. Listeninng to Disc 3, the Cedell Davis Track Let Me Play With Your Poodle is a fine example of the tradition.
