For all lovers of magnificent architecture and cultural monuments

For lovers of world-class architecture and cultural monuments: excellent news on the progress of restoration of Notre-Dame. There is more work to be done on the interior and scaffolding for the steeple is still in place. Nevertheless, this magnificent cathedral will be at least partially reopened to the public this year.

Notre-Dame Cathedral Will Reopen in 2024: How to Visit, What You Can See - Bloomberg

I have visited Norte-Dame twice over the years and still don’t think I’ve taken it all in. The 2019 fire was devasting for me, nearly reduced me to tears. Looking forward to visiting one of the most storied and beautiful places of worship on the planet again soon.

It was horrible seeing it burn.

I was on vacation a few years after the fire, and Paris was one of our stops. It really sucked that we were not able to visit the Cathedral. We did get to see it from outside.

I had a similar experience back in 1990 with the Pearl Harbor memorial. My wife and I were on our honeymoon, and the memorial was closed for renovations. Thankfully, we got back there in 2012 and were able to visit it then. Perhaps we will get back to Paris in the future, and we’ll get to see Notre Dame then.

We were in Paris a couple years ago and could not see Notre Dame as well. Hope to go back. Thanks for the update.

You risk finding the cathedral changed because in France, there is a controversy concerning the stained glass windows should be identical or modernized? However, for the rest everything was redone identically.

I’ve never been there but seeing the fire was a real gut punch.
