Yeah - moved in a few weeks ago… here is the garage pics… ArmorKoted the floor, installed all the cabinets and plantation shutters. Cabinet company owes me an upper, lower and 6ft worktop. Should be done soon. Deuce Coupe comes tomorrow. The roller benches allow me access to the shutters.
here is the lap pool: 75ft X 12ft X 5.5ft deep. They have to finish the decking and small stuff. Been swimming for a week.
here is the gym - treadmill and leg press ordered. Gym has its own full bath. It is a separate entrance to our house; they call it a casita out west.
here is the cycling studio: the Kurt Kinetic trainer I use w/ Spinervals and Hammer I use w/ Rouvy. Celeste uses the recumbent; bought for her Bday a week ago. Both are nice w/ iphone doing screen mirroring on the 65in flat screen. All this is run through the Bose surround sound system and the room has 6in thick sprayed insulation so I can really let lose on the tunes. Using an Oppo 105 for the CD and Roku for the Pandora… or TdF
Well done Richard! How about the music room?
OK, here is the start. I have a lot of work to go… treatments; have not even hung any of my treatments… it is a storage place as we are disseminating all our stuff to the rest of the house.
here is my office - the two laptops are inside the lower cabinets and communicate to the monitors via wireless HDMI, BT, and wireless usb dongle (work does not allow BT on their laptops).
Very cool! Where did you get the wall mounts for your road bikes?
I am a 51 year old commercial real estate developer, owner, fund manager. It lacks a certain level of excitement and daily gratification but is a good living. In my late 30 I started road racing motorcycles to scratch that itch. I was pretty good at that and loved the competition and personal challenges. It was fun to com home from a race weekend and compare trophies with my hockey playing sons.
the first decent money I ever earned was spent on HiF at about 14yo. I loved that system, but that was the last 2 channel system I had until 4 years ago or so.
I can never retire. Real estate ownership/operations require constant attention.
Excellent planning/work…!
Bike Mount
Very slick - one pole, moves bike to 12in from wall and accommodates multiple tube geometries… the approach I designed at the old house had them closer to the wall; however, would not accommodate multiple tube geometries
Great seeing everyone’s professions. I’ve worked with computers for over 30 years, 22 of those architecting, coding, and operationalizing complex software systems and the last 15 years running product and technology teams that bring ideas to life.
Thanks for the info!
I was born in 1968, I have been working as a judge since 1995.
That was a great “car” stereo system!
IT manager for a large consultancy, focused on cloud migration these days. Enjoy collaborating with colleagues all over the world. Our way of working was not hugely impacted by COVID as we were well setup for virtual. In the USA for 25 years, but originally from Europe, and comfortable in both. Late 50’s, and not planning to retire before 65, enjoy working.
Loved music from a young age, from classical to epic and everything in between. Saw Bowie in concert at the time. All time live music highlight was the 1990 ‘The Wall’ concert on the Pots-dammer Platz, after the real wall came down, with the east-German military participating as well as, off course, a real helicopter making the helicopter sounds. Epic.
Was frustrated as a young poor student about the anemic music from tinny speakers so worked up to a better system now.
By the way, gentlemen, I see, eh, a pattern here? Nice market research for PS Audio, but maybe not surprising, their customers are indeed 50+ year old engineers of various kinds…
I started in offshore engineering, got a degree in Economics, spent a few years developing shopping centres (that was dull) and have been doing dispute resolution for almost 30 years. Suits me as I like problem solving and working at night. We manage to sort out the most complex problems, it may take a few years, an open mind and a bit of compromise. I never cease to be amazed that issues in audio remain unresolved for decades. Thank heavens for most it’s a hobby and not a job. My wife’s a ballet dancer turned therapist, my kids are in product design and politics, so I think we’ve got it covered.
In the navy for 20 years, reached the rank of commander… Retired from the navy and worked exclusively for the British Government. After 25 years service - I retreated to my Scottish (Skyfall) country estate, I wrote several bestseller books about my exploits working with MI 5 & 6… Shaken, not stirred!
Pen name please! Or is this comedy…
Ian Fleming ?
His being dead since '64 would explain a lot.
