FR-30 new purchase, subwoofer questions

I prefer rhodium plated copper spades. I’m not claiming that my preference is logical though.

I think you are referring to my post on spade size for FR30s. I was mostly curious, unlikely to be a problem.

As far as plating, I am using Iconoclast Series II SPTPC and don’t recall what type they use.

Thanks, that’s what I was looking for. The Iconoclasts I have are 7mm and no difficulties on the amp end (BHK 600).

This is great. There’s no consensus on which connector is the best even among the cable designers. I have always used spades, but my current speaker cable designer prefers banana connectors (better and more surface contact, he believes). My current amp has terminals that seem to provide larger contact with spades, so I have spades at the amp and banana at the speakers.

FR 30 accepts two different size of spades as mentioned before.

I think one should be able to objectively determine which terminal would have more surface contact with banana plugs vs. spades, depending on the design of the plug/spade “receptacles” on the amps/speakers.

Personally, I love the convenience of banana plugs but I tend to think larger spade connections would, at least theoretically, offer more surface area contact, which is, again, theoretically “better”.

Your set up might just offer the best of both worlds.

Cheers.
