FR20 or B&W 802D

Out of curiosity, for those that ordered the FR20 who was the forwarder used? I received a tracking reference, but no carrier information. I asked Chris Harden and he was going to try and find who it was shipped by, but I haven’t heard back. What’s the point of a tracking number and no information who it is for?

The shipping company will be in contact with you. I wondered about shipping updates early after ordering my FR20, but they will contact you when your speakers are in your local area to set up a delivery day/time.

Pretty much the same thing Chris said. I have been buying speakers and dealing with freight forwarders a long time and this is the first time the transit is so opaque. Makes it really hard to even guess what to expect. Still don’t understand what the point of sending me a tracking reference number was if I can’t actually use it. Oh well…

There is a disc/book that they should also be sending to you.

It took over 2 weeks to get mine after they were shipped…a very indirect route, and lengthy warehouse holdovers…

Definitely not what I wanted to hear. Chris told me 5 days….

Indirect shipping seems to save on the overall cost for PSA…

Mine got to me in 5 days, so there’s hope. The local carrier was calling me on day 3 to confirm day and time.

Fingers crossed. I’m located in the Dallas/Fort Worth area so hopefully being sort of centrally located will work in my favor.

Cool!
Let us know your thoughts!
(I already know the FR20 “seems nice”)

For what it’s worth, we use a freight forwarder named Aeronet. They do pretty much all our freight including inbound, outbound and some warehousing services for overflow from our boulder warehouse.

However, they contract with multiple trucking companies for LTL shipping so you may see various trucking companies used.

I’m glad to hear you’re getting your speaker tomorrow. I’d love to hear what you think (both initial impression and once you get some hours on them).

@Balthazar2k4 has been quiet today, I’m guessing his FR20’s arrived

They did indeed arrive today, but they are still boxed up. Work got in the way of playtime. Hoping to get to them this evening. I’ll report back.

Does your speaker backage come with “white glove” service? My FR30 has that included, but I did not know what that mean. The delivery guy did not give any hint that he was going to unbox them (four boxes), let alone installation.

I spent the next few hours doing some heavy lifting, and his boss called and asked why I did not have the guy do the installation; I said WHAT?! Oh, I let him go because he seems like a nice guy in a hurry, and I gave him a tip too.

No, the FR20 get threshold delivery. So I had him park the pallet in my driveway and I broke it down and dollied the speakers inside myself. No biggie.

The FR30 are a completely different beast in terms of size and weight. I seriously considered them, but my room is too small to really support them.

The room is small enough that I use acoustic panels to control the reflection. Made a huge difference.

I’ll update when the FR20 are in place.

FR30 needs a lot of room to breathe, I bet you will like FR20 better and congratulations on the fine selection!

I like your minibar there too; I have one nearby and it really helps in making so-so recording music sound great.

I just bi-wired the FR10 with WireWorld Eclipse 8 for the bass and Silver Eclipse 8 for the mid/highs. Sounds really good. With the preamp/amp and cabling change I have transformed the FR10 so much I almost wonder now if I should have bought the FR20 :joy:

After 500 hours of break in on FR20, then you will know!
