Fuse direction for Pass amp and preamp

Hey Lonson…I’m finding this out myself as well.

The hardest part of it is akin to tube rolling for a change
in the presentation flavor each tube subtype brings to the
table…

Well, my three decades or so of tube-rolling experience has come in quite handy in the fuse-directing field.

That’s great you have your flavor choices all dialed
in…makes life so much easier…

Yes. My biggest discovery of this decade in tube-rolling was using RCA Gray Glass 6SN7 with converter bases in the 6922 spots in my systems. It just made everything more like Goldilock’s porridge for me.

I will be getting 4 fuses today but after all my research I have decided to upgrade one fuse in one component at a time. I will try a purple fuse in my Pass X250.8 first and I will try the fuse both ways to find the best direction. It will probably take me a week or so to upgrade my amp, preamp, PST and Auralic Aries streamer. I want to do it right so I will do it slowly one component at a time. My new digital setup is beginning to sound very good.My PST may only have 10 hours play on it but it sounds quite nice already.

I put the 4 fuses in and after only an hour the sound is amazing. I put the fuses in the Pass amp and preamp as per the diagram someone sent me direction front of amp to back. As I am unable to reopen the fuse cartridge I will have to settle with how it is. It sounds good already. I am getting a 3D holographic type of sound which is very seductive. I am pleased.

Hey mitchb105 congratulations for giving the fuses a try!!

It is great to hear you are enjoying the new improved levels
of resolution, dynamics and soundstage the new fuses provide.

My experience echos yours strongly!!

As my new PST transport is getting some play being only 3 days old the sound is spectacular. The speakers and the walls seem to disappear which is a beautiful effect. My tuner needs some work but in disconnecting the tuner the sound improved quite noticeably. I’m thinking of not putting the tuner back in my system as it sounds much better without it in the system.

It’s nice when the best sound you have ever heard is in the music room in your house!
