Any update on the progress of restoring the server?
Is there a chance you can supply the API specs so those of us who are capable can assemble our own server?
I’ll make a bunch of assumptions… there’s a phone home protocol and the unit begins automatically transmitting data from the unit with its serial number so a user can claim the device when signing up for the service.
The graphing is likely based on the collected timeseries data via a set of custom web graphing widgets. So long as the timeseries data can be collected into a SQL database, a DIYer could build a set of dashboards via something like Excel, Tableau, Prometheus or Graphana, etc.
I’m lazy. I just want a factory solution like the old setup.
Probably would take some talent to figure out how to set that up from the user side.
I guess you are right. And this could be an awesome community project.
Yes! Thanks for asking. Nearly done and we should have it ready for you in the next week or two.
That’s interesting. It is based on API calls. The Power Plants are programmed to ping our server every X time (don’t remember what that is) and say “here I am, her’s what I have to report”. The data is then stored and related to the unit’s serial number. The front end UI we’re building then just does an API call.
Let’s see how the end product turns out. I am not certain there would be any advantage in opening it as there’s no more/less data to be had.
Open-sourcing APIs almost always has a positive benefit, even if it is just in terms of different ways to present the data, but often leads to interesting ways of using the APIs that the originator never thought of
Like Paul just mentioned, we’re expecting to roll it out in a few weeks. I was hoping we’d be able to surprise folks with it, but I think it’s returning is enough to get folks very excited!
Looking forward to it!
Great news
Congrats on a future relaunch
Hello,
@jamesh is there something going on right now on the new servers?
My P15 is generating great amount of traffic on local network.
Disconnected the network cable and reconnected it, and same behavior.
Yesterday everything was normal.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Yes, quite a lot actually. More info to come, but we are looking at a launch of the new PowerPlay in a few days… Or maybe just a day. It’s a secret though. Shhhh
I am impressed you noticed.
We’re getting ready to launch the new version of PowerPlay and units around the world are now reporting in to have enough data.
I suspected that.
Good news.
Thanks.
Professional issues!
Just arrived home, and was starting to play some music and checked the switch going like a Christmas tree.
Those folks at PS Audio are playing with PowerPlay, I tought.
This explains it. Us mere civilians are unlikely to see such things going on.
So, do you suggest leave the network cable connected so it will start to collect data right away?
I guess that will generate a little bit of traffic, which may affect Roon Server (on the same switch).
