Gryphon PowerZone

That cord already went back into the box, and the box is in a bigger box in garage. The next time that PC will see the daylight is probably in an estate sale.

I won’t say I’m impressed by the cable, but I am impressed that they included one. I know Audioquest does not supply any cables for the Niagara line of conditioners

so we have Paul, a different Paul and the other Paul, in addition to our uncle Paul! Oh and my son Paul, too.

Good observation about the G point, I mean the socket of course!

The EU Schuko socket has (R) Rhodium and (G) Gold versions but not distinguishable visually, at least I can’t find a viewable sign/mark on them (I use Rhodium ones for my wall). Hope one of the many Pauls can confirm which ones are mounted on the EU PZ3, I suppose the sexier G ones!

Yes. Thank you for clearing that up.

Don’t know if price is a factor but gold today is $2675/oz versus $4775 for rhodium.

No it was chosen for sonic neutrality like @straightwire said. According to Paul Hafner.

It seems that Audio Stock Exchange follows different rules, as usual!

Luca, did you sleep at all?

I have Furutech NCF wall socket, and I do not know what “brightness” some are talking about means since I have zero brightness with a brand new PZ in my system now, and the sound is in fact more neutral and fuller now then ever! I believe the Fidelium Speaker cables and interconnect may have helped (some think they are on the warm side) to tame any brightness that could have existed. FR30 plus MU2 definitely helped to develop a sound that I did not know could have existed in reproduction music.

Oh, I have to mention ZenWave PSR-11 too, it is a pure silver ribbon cord, but it sounded so much fuller and musical than AQ Dragon HC.

All the blah-blah really means it is really system dependent. I am very close to my endgame (amp is the only possible improvement left).

A brief wake up in the middle of the night, just to check your posts about the PZ!

Back to sleep, thanks!

Just think about how great your system will sound when PZ arrives. Okay, have a good sleep!

I think I can officially say congratulations all PZ owners original 6! Thank you to @aangen for setting up the special purchase! Go start enjoying gents!

My favorite quote about this hobby is “there are no ends, only means”. I don’t kid myself anymore that anything is a last purchase. I thought the P20 was a staple, and now it’s left the stable.
I must agree however, that an amp upgrade would give your system a bump and balance your system. Just…one…more…and I’m done…Ha!

Paul’s are everywhere but they seem to be happy bozo’s on the same audio bus.

This Paul is a bozo for sure.

I am going to plug half of my PZ into my P20.
I have heard it makes a substantial improvement when you do so.

@Gareth

Thank you for sharing a beautifully written tribute! I can relate to the story with regard to my migrant father, who started with next to nothing and put everything on the line to build a business which, although far more modest, set our family up. Integrity, passion and hard work.
Respect.

Cheers, Phil

As always, there are two camps when it comes to gold vs. rhodium.
One claims that gold is neutral in the overtones and the other thinks that rhodium has a better resolution.
The fact is that rhodium is very durable and does not wear out because it is much harder than gold.
Rhodium is also impermeable to air and protects the copper underneath better from oxidation.
If you often plug and unplug the plug in and out during a thunderstorm, for example, you will have permanent protection with rhodium and gold will rub off.
As with many things, it also depends on the correct coating process and the thickness of the coating. Furutech has mastered this very well.
It also makes a difference whether gold-plating or rhodium-plating or a nickel layer is used.Different materials on contacts are said to be able to lead to eddy current losses.
Some claim that once gold is always gold. Going from rhodium to gold in the signal direction of the electron flow is said to be less critical than going from gold to rhodium.
Don’t forget silver, it is said to be the best conductor and silver oxidation has almost as good conductivity.
It is said to be better if plugs and connections are made of the same materials.
Can you even hear the difference?
In an emergency and for your conscience, there are various contact improvers such as Furutech nano fluid or Deoxit etc.
Since I have had the Furutech nano fluid, I have been treating all contacts with it and can sleep soundly.:rofl:
And with all the variables, we should not forget that the audiophiles who still exist are over 50 years old and no longer have bat ears.:man_shrugging:
Rumor has it that the Schnerzinger socket has gold-plated contacts because of the oxidation, but thanks to Atomic Bonding it is the strongest sounding on the market and can release unbridled dynamics.

Greetings Andreas

I shared an email with @aangen I received from the engineer who created the powerzone or at least his magical modules are inside. His view on the powerzone is quite different than the view from Gryphon. I will explain.

Gryphon pre-powerzone recommended no power conditioners or regenerators period. Plug directly into the wall socket. Thier belief was that either could potentially harm the signal instead of improving it.
Gryphon now recommends using a powerzone 3.10 or 3.20 connected to the wall with all Gryphon products.

Paul Hafner said that he never intended the powerzone to replace any power product but be used as an addition to whatever one may be using in thier setup currently. (pardon the pun)

So @ronp mentioned early on in the thread why can’t we plug the PZ into a P20? Paul Hafner believes if you like the way the system sounds with whatever you may be using I assume it needs to be 20amp then continue using and just add the powerzone.

I have not tried it myself and feel it may be overkill but that is what this hobby is. I likely will not be adding the PZ to the P20 but I wanted to share the knowledge I gain from the access I have to these individuals. I apologize to anyone especially @ronp if I offended or questioned why one would do this. So please enjoy your power zones responsibly. :+1:t2:

What could these words possibly mean? I’ve been reading these words and they are so foreign to me that I can’t keep both eyeballs going in the same direction.

I’m wondering

how would work the PZ without the Hafner technology inside

how would work another power conditioner/regenerator with the Hafner technology inside

how long will a Hafner proprietary product appear on the market as a stand alone device

And most of all: will my dealer deliver me my PZ next weekend?
