Not to further complicate things, but… has anyone tried a PZ on a video system?

A bit of a tangent but wanted to ask the group, when someone points to your PowerZone and asks what it is and what it does - what is your response? Obviously, the former could be simply, “a Gryphon PowerZone”. The latter question is not as easy (for me) to answer as it’s not a traditional component performing a traditional function.
I posed this question to @aangen several weeks ago and his response was something to the effect of, “…electrons enter the box complacent but leave very happy on their journey to the other components in the system”. Works for me. Who wouldn’t want happy electrons traversing their system? Nonetheless, I’m curious of any other explanations that help characterize what this PZ thing does.
My projector and my HT processor are plugged into the PZ. I can’t really say if it made a difference but it sounds and looks good.
My PZ definitely increased the contrast on my LG OLED TV.
I thought I posted a video of Rune Skov explaining what the PZ does somewhere on this thread. The video is on YouTube.
Thanks Paul - I’ll see if I can find it. Hopefully, it doesn’t require a PhD to understand. If so, I may just stick with Al’s explanation.![]()
It makes the electrons dance in harmony. So, they are depressed coming in but leave happily, and Al is right.
I have used PSA P15 and PSM-156 on the new Sony 75 OLED. Frankly, they make some difference, but not enough to call it an improvement. So, I use a cheaper AQ conditioner, and I like it better.
AL’s is the Cliffs note version and it works. I’ve heard the plumbing and flowing water comparison but electrical engineers seem to get upset when you describe electrical current to water flow. ![]()
Yes the PZ 3.10 is special. aangen notes some experienced a slight dryness and brittleness in the presentation until the PZ had more or less settled in. Count me as one of those. In fact relocating it to my seasonal home and then returning it to my primary system I note some time necessary for it to settle in. About a day or two of playing music and it settles right in. I’ll add the Power cord is an Audience 20 amp Front Row cable. I’ve tried the Snubway and the Veri-fi Main Event plug-in devices but have yet to report out. My initial thought is little gain with either in place when the PZ is doing its thing. Now adding Sack Audio Auva EQ1 feet directly under the PZ aallows for a more settled soound in my system. The folks at Gryphon note the feet and vibration absorption provided in the PZ is optimized. Still the EQ1 provides further improvement.
I think it’s the alternating current flows in both directions thing as opposed to water currents go in one direcction.
Not to open a can of worms it’s also why they think flipping a fuse and hearing a difference doesn’t make sense.
Think of it like “Boot Camp” for electrons. Unruly miscreants going in and disciplined, marching in perfect step coming out.
You can do that too with the setting adjustments on your set! ![]()
I wonder if the Hafner technology is a licensed exclusive of Gryphon. There is always a double edged sword to opening up revolutionary designs to the masses.
I’ve had the same thoughts about BAACH/ORC.
Creating greater access is fine unless the pursuit of a larger market takes focus and resources away from the best that the new technology can be.
I always wanted a Tucker Sedan.
I actually had to turn both the brightness and contrast down a bit. It was too much, but the resultant picture quality was off the charts good.
Rune explains that Hafner Tech improves both audio and video.
For the consumer audio-video market, it is exclusive to Gryphon. The hospital industry, the original intent of Hafner-Tech, is not licensed to Gryphon.
Do you know what it’s used for?
Rune did not mention specific hospital equipment
