Gryphon system

Nice party today at Anthony Chiarella’s house. Michael Fremer and Bill Low of Audioquest in attendance. I spent about an hour talking to Bill Low. What an infectious personality who is a true audiophile (not that common in this biz).
Curiously, Anthony chose a Torus isolation transformer (bottom right of the rack) over the Powerzone for his system. Color me perplexed.

Nice system! I can’t tell from the photos, but the wiring doesn’t look like AudioQuest. With Bill Low there I would assume there was some AudioQuest wiring. You sure have some well-placed friends!

How did the system sound? I assume it was awsome.

Nice. But I can’t give a fair assessment because as usual, folks who were there to “listen” couldn’t stop talking so I didn’t spend much time in the listening room. I’d have to go back alone or with duct tape to really tell.

Frankly I was incredulous re. the cabling.

It’s pricey.

I like the HRS stabilizer plates on the Mephisto amp that weighs close to 300lbs.

Please get back to us after you’ve had a listen.

I hope the power cords are thicker than those cables laying on the ground.

Whenever I had a party, everyone was talking and the music sounded terrible because no one sat down to listen to music! When I turned up the volume everyone just talked louder. So, my system usually at low 60 dbs volume purely as a background music for dinner party

I am the only audiophile among family and friends. Wait, my wife is a half audiophile by now.

Sounds like almost every audio show and club meet I’ve ever been to. Hmm, except the ones I’ve had at my place. It seems when they come here to listen they actually spent most of their time doing that. It may have something to do with the cattle prod I have sitting by my chair as a hint. :joy:

When I use the HRS damping plate on my CJ integrated I find the effect to be quite subtle. On a high resolution system such as the one pictured it might be more pronounced. But I get yoiur point with a combined weight of 14.2 lbs for the two plates versus an almost 300 lb amp we’re talking maybe 5% of the plates to the amp.

That cracked me up!

I’m guessing that the plates are supposed to damp top plate vibration as you suggest, not add total weight.

That is exactly how HRS positions the product. In their literature they say:

“A very specific amount of mass, stiffness, and damping from these products eliminates chassis resonance problems and transforms residual chassis energy into heat.”

The result is a lowering of the noise floor for an increase in detail, clarity and dynamics.

The top plate is thicker than the weights.

I took the weights off and knocked on the top. It felt solid as a brick.
I think Anthony probably had them and felt like putting them somewhere.

If that amp is on long enough you can probably cook some eggs on those plates.

I was surprised that they weren’t that hot. And I arrived an hour late.

Then that amp must of been set to stun and not kill. Lol
