Have you heard any new speakers lately?

Thanks for the update Vern. Looking forward to more listening impressions from you when the time comes. Hope you are doing well after your surgery…

Will do and thanks for the kind words.
They ended up fixing 3 hernias but everything went well and I am feeling better already.

Excellent news!

Good to hear you are on the mend.

Thanks Elk!
It was really close due to the increase of Covid admissions. They didn’t have any beds available for in patient and were on the verge of cancelling all elective non emergency out patient surgeries. My lucky day I guess.
My daughter in law is an NP at that hospital and she said that 95% of new Covid admissions are not vaccinated.

I am glad you could get your surgery, COVID is creating a mess everywhere.

Yes, from everything I have seen/heard (my family is in medicine) the bulk of current admissions and deaths is among the unvaccinated. Exceedingly sad as it is essentially preventable.

Good choice on the sub/sat combo!

Could anyone truly go wrong listening to any MBL speaker? I’ve heard two types, both in terrible rooms and was shocked by the excellence.

The easy and correct answer is no.

But I’m listening to Vivids with un plugged in MBL’s sitting next to them.

But still, no!

I like the cage around your system to keep the magic contained. Lol

That’s no choice. The Seamaster, especially if it’s vintage. Speakers will come and go, but a classic timepiece stays with you.

Not vintage.

The problem, as I see it, is that I’d ALWAYS be stressed about losing it or being robbed or misplacing it. As much as I REALLY do want one, I’ll probably never pull the trigger because having that much value tied up in something so small would probably always be a worry.

But a man can dream. Anyway. Merry Christmas to all my bestest audio friends. Good to still be among you.

Omega next on my list, though I’m more partial to the speed master and in particular probably some version of the moon watch. For now I rock Hamilton’s. Couple jazz masters and a world timer chrono. But I want Omega or maybe Ball next

A Merry Christmas back to you, Mike, and to all.

As I’ve gotten older and experienced some terrible (human) losses in life, I’ve come to learn that small joys - as all will ultimately be temporary in one form or another - should be treasured while they exist. If we lose them, we can look back to the joy of having had, and not the emptiness of never having. Compared to those who matter to us, these trinkets pale in comparison, but to each they can still bring a measure of happiness. Bring joy to others, bring joy to yourself, do no harm. We are here but for a short time. :christmas_tree:

@aangen - I have Wilson Yvette since last summer- and kept upgrading my gear toward optimizing the Yvette to sound best. Right now considering getting Gryphon Essence stereo amp- which controls the bass line like no other (its so addictive to have stronger/deeper bass, along with bigger soundstage, out of the Yvette). Is there any other amplifier that will be much less weight and less heat and do what Gryphon does? how do you compare Yvette agains something like a Giya (… I know much pricier).

I adored my Yvettes and pushed back when it was suggested that I consider something else. The Yvettes were fine with my Antileon Evo and I was going to hang onto them. But the man who guided me towards the Gryphon and TechDAS gear helped me build a great system. So I decided to trust him and I ordered the Vivid Spirits. He was on to something and I have no regrets.

I like your choice of Amplifier. I love my Gryphon gear. The Essence Stereo is a nice jump up from Diablo 300. But that might do the job as well. Heavy duty class AB or fewer but more potent class A watts from the Essence. I can tell you the Wilsons respond well to Class A. It made it that much more difficult to move away from them.

I wish I could guide towards options. But I am stepping up even further with Gryphon. I guess I am a full on fanboi… Please let me know what you find. The Yvettes are worthy!!

The most accurate result in hifi is to be happy. When you are happy, the rest is empty.

@aangen Gryphon (Essence stereo) in place for about 2 months now- and the Wilson Yvette sounds fantastic (definitely like this way more than the Pass XA30.8, which sounds a bit syrupy - sweet and slower- compared to Gryphon- so money well spent). I find myself listen to moderate volume (compared to before when I use higher volume with previous amps). The majority of listening is in low bias (due to my habit- listening to system while working in another room, and TV watching)- and also summer is at hand. Also this might be due to lower listening volume, it is staying in Class A most of the time.
I’ll probably use high bias more when we get to Fall/Winter in the Northeast. Then I can spend months deciding if it makes a difference to me. I may follow in your footsteps later and look into assessing upgrading speakers- like the Vivid (but that is few years down the road at best). Thank you for leading the way.

Congrats! There are people who prefer the Essence amp to my Antileon Evo. It is apparently faster. I have listened to them and it definitely has the Gryphon house sound. And Yvettes as well !!! I can easily imagine how sweet that sounds. Enjoy!!!
