HDMI IS2 to connect Airlens and Directsream PS AUDIO

Hello Forum friends.

I have a question to ask, even though the topic of HDMI I2S cables has already been discussed, but mainly for cables costing over $800 or $1,000.
I want to use the HDMI I2S connection between my Airlens (which I’m very, very happy with) and my Directstream MK1. Until now, I’ve been using a cable from HIFI Cables & Compagnies, the Ultimate model. I’ve read positive reviews of the PANGEA Premier SE as well as an Italian RICABLE Supreme MK2 cable specifically designed for audio, not video… both made of pure OCC copper (the former with a silver coating). So yes, these are cables costing no more than $100, but I’d like your feedback on the combination with Airlens and Directstream. I can also get a used Audioquest Vodka 48 (more expensive and without being certain of the authenticity) but I’m not sure that the price difference will be worth the difference in listening. Here, your opinions please…thanks

Welcome!

I suggest buying from a source that allows returns. In that way, you can make a determination as to whether upgrading the cable makes sense for you.

Ricable allows a 30 days trials

A few years back James H recommended that I try DH Labs’ Silversonic HDMI cable. I’ve been very pleased with it. I think it was about $130 if I recall correctly.

Do not even think about getting a Pandea SE, the sound was so dark I thought I would quit streaming! This was by far the worst HDMI cable that I have ever owned. and I do not even use it for TV.

AQ Vodka48 is an excellent I2S cable, and if you can find a used AQ Coffee (discontinued and is not 48, but for I2S it is great) that would sound better and SQ is closer to AQ Firebird.

I have owned AQ Vodka, Coffee, Firebird48, and I am currently using Dragon48 (I know, but it is the best among AQ if not among all HDMI cables). For the cost a used Coffee is hard to beat.

I have the same question. About to get an Air Lens for a smaller system I have, and wondering how it responds to I2S cable as well as ethernet.

Obviously the DAC will need to have compatible I2S but I’m narrowing it down and many of the options will work with Air Lens, so I’m just planning ahead.
