Hi-Fi Photography and Images

I did not realize NAGRA was entering the streamer fray.

There is just something about the NAGRA aesthetic.

Adding this to the lust after list…

@scotte1 I’ve always thought pretty much every product from NAGRA have stunning looks.

I agree.

Here’s a pic from today’s UK HiFi Show. They seem to be concentrating on playing the FR5s or the FR10s (there were some FR30s lurking in the background). Scott and Chris were both there.

From a post that popped up in my FB feed this morning. Pathos factory tour photos.

Pathos is another manufacturer with an aesthetic that I find very appealing.

Sound and build quality is just superb! I’m a little biased though…

The Jays MK3, I am going to buy one and take the top and bottom covers off. I will put it on a motorized rotating platform. Perhaps LED lighting. It is an outstanding design, maybe more to look at than to use. If it is a great listen as well, Bonus!

I like to look at it, and use it. Pride in design oozes in every symmetrical corner, the transport is slick and firm, and the heavy milled aluminum case usually finds itself at a much higher price bracket.
Fun.

This appeals to my utilitarian sensibilities.

A bit Revox(y)…?

I have always found Pathos kit to be appealing.

Anyone have any experience regarding their kit’s general performance level…?

Reminds me of Phase Linear and early Carver Electronics.
I had one of these back in the day. Sonic Holography they called it. BACCH improved it greatly but it was still fun.
The Carver Sonic Holography - Autocorrelator Preamplifier.

The Sonic Holography impressed me. The Autocorrelator not so much.

I lusted after this very piece of kit in the 80’s when I was in college. I did not have two nickels to rub together so all I could do was pine away about “someday”.

It sat in my closet for many years. I took it to a good local HiFi repair shop and said “This piece deserves to live on”. I had the original packaging and manual. He agreed and said he has a buddy who fixes up and sells good old piece like it. He assured me it was worth saving and that his friend most likely would repair it and move it on to someone who wanted it. So I said thanks and left it with him. I have so much Carver gear sitting in boxes! I was all about Carver early on. Then Sunfire, then Anthem, then NBS, and finally Gryphon and Bacch.

My first foray into “higher end” gear was facilitated by a Carver gizmo (don’t recall the name of it) that allowed me to hook up an Adcom stereo amplifier (100 wpc I think) to my 25 wpc JC Penney (no kidding) MCS Series stereo receiver. I never did circle back to Carver electronics (but I think his more recent tube gear is pretty sexy).

Interesting that you’re mentioning early Carver and Phase Linear gear. Just last week, I sent a Carver C-9 Sonic Hologram Generator and a Phase Linear 1000 Autocorrelator Noise Reduction and Dynamic Range Recovery System out to PS Audio as part of a trade-in package to help fund my new FR10 speakers. (Great trade-in deal on the FR10s last month, by the way!)

I have two C9s sitting on a shelf. One was upgraded nicely. I don’t imagine either will see power again.
