How do these pressings sound?

Both.

Which one do you have Ron? I see 2020 and 2016 Blue Notes. I think they were Kevin Gray. I’ve been watching the BG Classic pressing, but I’ve not purchased. I’m wondering which one is best.

Mike—Mine is Blue Note, Tone Poet. Expensive at $38. but the sound is fabulous. Record is dead quiet and flat.

I’ve got the Sarah Vaughan Berlin Lost Recordings pressing. @jazznut I know you recommended a couple and said to steer away from others. Of those listed below, do you or others recommend any (or conversely not recommend any listed):

According to my taste and soundwise only the Dizzy. But I bet there are some who musically recommend several more.

Does anyone have experience with Harmonia Mundi pressings? Any worth considering? @jazznut @chrisj1948 @dcm

I dont have any vinyl or cd copies from them, but I feel like very recently I listened to a couple of their recordings on Qobuz:

and

both sounded quite good, but I can only speak to the streaming versions here

Man - if you want some Purcell on vinyl, they seem like the people to go to. That Deller/Purcell bundle is well priced (if they are good quality)

I’ll check it out. Thanks! :+1:

That question is way beyond my pay grade! I listen to music almost exclusively through Qobuz. I have only incidentally noted Harmonia Mundi as a label which publishes stuff I like and it ‘seems to sound OK’. I think you are looking for a more sophisticated response than that

I have a handful , maybe 25-30, of the Harmonia Mundi LPs that I purchased in the mid-70s to mid-80s. I am quite pleased with the sound and can readily recommend them. The pressings are flat and quiet, the sound is magnificent and I do enjoy the performances.

Above is an example of a Harmonia Mundi LP I can easily recommend.

Yet another recommendation.

While I cannot comment on their LPs specifically, Harmonia Mundi is a wonderful label with wonderful music well recorded.

I will check out weedeewop‘s recommendations, as my experience is somewhat limited.

Anyhow when I played all albums of my fathers‘ 70s/80s collection, I found several great Telefunken, Phillips, and single others, also several surprisingly good digitally sourced ones, but that time none of the Harmonia Mundi were convincing. Maybe the wrong ones. I‘ll give it a try to change my impression of the past

Yes, nothing against them in general, I have many great ones as digital versions. The Isabelle Faust ones, several quartet recordings, the following Motets recording is a great one. I just have limited and not that exceptional experience with past vinyl versions so far, I’m happy to revise that on occasion.

Here is yet another I can easily recommend.

Regarding those that were not convincing, well I have not run into any. Those that I do have on vinyl all sound quite realistic on my system and to my ears. For those who are curious I’d give them a try. With a little effort copies may be found on Discogs.

I like them so much I went for this when initially released, while not on vinyl, which is my preference, I do enjoy them.
