How to remove SACD transport lid

Yes, thanks, I read this when you first mentioned it and have tried that. Unfortunately. . . did not work.

rotten luck! How does this happen? I have a hard time imagining how the CD would jump off the tray - Must be frustrating! Keep us posted.

I’m not sure why this occurs–in my experience this has not happened with other transports, it may be caused by an element of this transport design.

In the first instance it was a pressed cd from Germany (ECM), and in this instance a CDR with a printed top.

Just heard from Service. Now I realize I need to make a trek out to my storage unit for the OG box. Probably tomorrow morning, maybe today.

Bother.

No, PS Audio handling this is a good thing that I am grateful for.

I’d really like to hear from PS Audio service how this is even happening and if it is at all preventable. Please share any info as you get it. Your patience is admirable.

I have never received any info about how or why this happens. . . don’t really expect to in this instance.

I can afford to be patient because I kept my DMP when I bought the PWT SACD, and I hardly ever use it in my headphone only system, and to be honest. . . it sounds as good as the PWT in the system now. So I can afford to wait patiently.

Boy that transport is expensive to ship back in original packaging, but it’s on the way. I have been warned there is a service backlog and it may take a while. . . .
But man my DMP is impressing the heck out of me. A few settings changes and good golly Miss Molly it sounds great, and plays other format discs as well. I may even put the PWT SACD into storage as a backup when it comes back!

I just ordered one from TMR to give as a gift. I’ll play with it for a couple days before she gets it.
I’m curious how it compares to my Jay’s.

Cool. SACD is important to me and this DMP excels at SACD playback into the DSD Mk II. . . so I’ve never needed to try a Jay’s, can’t say how it would compare with Redbook, bet both are very good.

I find that this DMP sounds “better” with the ground “Lifted” on the I2S input than the PWT SACD transport does–which makes sense as the latter is galvanically isolated. Sound is really good connected to the Mk II, even better than I remembered before, but my amplification has changed since I moved it out of the system, and I am using a ZROCK3 now instead of the earlier ZROCK2.

I’m listening to the DMP which arrived this morning. I can’t say I hear a difference compared to the Jay’s CDT2, MK3.
Since I bought this DMP as a gift for a young musician, I’ll let her choose which she likes best.
My hunch is she’ll like the top loading Jay’s.

Cool. I bet I could hear a difference. I’ve trained my ears with literally dozens of cd transports and players. Also: when unplugged I find that the DMP really changes sound (for the better) over a few days when plugged back in and operated, so there’s a possibility that it is not all that it can be yet. Also, the DMP in my experience sounds best using the I2S output . .. not sure if the two can be compared using that same ouput.

Additionally, having the DSD Mk II with that “handshake” and hundreds of SACDs the DMP promises a lot more value to me–SACD really does sound great via that combo, beats the excellent Redbook sound.

FWIW, I heard a difference between the
CDT3 MK3 and the DMP. Enough difference to make that upgrade from the DMP. It was a linear improvement, not a logarithmic one. Splitting hairs, but this old head needs as many as I can muster.

Yes, I have compared the CDT2 to the CDT3 and I heard improvements throughout the range.
I just didn’t care about CDs enough to make the upgrade.

I’ll have to admit that I was wrong about SACDs. I never felt they were worth any extra money but since popping this DMP into my system, I’ve discovered some SACDs in my collection that do sound quite a bit better than their RB counterparts. Very nice.

Care to share with us those SACD that you find particularly pleasing? No need to share the duds

I have tried to find and purchase some SACD’s but as hard as I research I can’t seem to find any titles that interest me. Either I already own the title on regular discs or I don’t see anything that I am interested in. I own a couple of jazz SACDs and two Dylan SACDs which are OK but nothing too impressive. I have something like 2500 CDs and maybe 5 SACDs. I would love to get some good discs to try but it seems like the SACDs available are limited. Any recommendations would be appreciated.
