I made an enormous error at work about eight years back.
A colleague often bragged about his Bose surround system sourced from Costco. The colleague had been inviting people over to hear the system and those who went returned with rave reviews.
During a small group lunch, the Bose person asked me about my home theater system (Marantz / Paradigm) and remarked he had never heard of those brands. I was a little fed up and made a comment I regretted.
I never open my mouth anymore to friends nor coworkers.
That’s me. But it needs a tactile feel and nimbleness without any boomy or bloating. Not a fan of the totally flat theoretica Katz ORC curve but do like the Sean Olive curve. I acquired this from having line array bass drivers stacked. My RoomPerfect didn’t change curves as much as ORC and preserves more how the speaker designer voiced them.
I didn’t notice much bloat or boom until I had the black box in the system and then removed it from the room then I was like oh crap! I guess it is boomy. lol
Try placing the BB behind your chair, if doable in your room. I have a null there and it was funny the result (speaking about boominess). Just a temporary experiment.
I have two BBs behind my listening chairs. About 3 feet apart on the perpendicular bisector of the Speakers. It draws the bass through my chair.
@paul172 and his associate Doug found the spot. When you have people over Black Box positions becomes the game. Id like to do cable tuners as well but even I don’t wish to do that.
