I participate on the Auralic Forum and their CEO posts there often as Paul does here. Their CEO actually said they provide an internal SSD option, but they actually recommend using a NAS for the best SQ.
Personally, I connected a powered USB Hub to my Altair G1 and use an external SSD. I prefer to rip my CDs with my ripping software of choice on my computer and do my own meta tags and album covers.
You can also connect a CD drive and rip directly to the Altair G1 if you are using an internal SSD, like you can with the Innous. I would prefer this option better than having the CD drive built into the streamer.
Aha, that may be why my Zenith mk iii was acting wonky with Tidal early this morning. Iāll have to see if an update was in progress. I removed and reloaded Tidal twice and it is still wonky. Initially it would not play albums, only songs, then nothing, then it did not show up on the App menu. Figured it was meant to be an LP day today. Just not a great idea at 5:30 am. Iāll have to look into the Innuos update. Thanks for the heads up.
I know what you need to do as I had to do it myself with previous update ,and now again. This really sucksā¦and problem is with Tidal only. You need to contact Innuos customer service to solve this problem. They will email you back how to work through it.
You need to register squeezebox to their servers etc.
Here is their response:
"The Tidal service on innuOS depends on a platform called mysqueezebox.com and each Innuos server has a mysqueezebox account already associated with it. This platform has recently undergone changes on the way the Tidal account is configured so that new authentication methods like Facebook, Apple or Twitter accounts can be used to login on Tidal. This has affected the integration between innuOS and the mysqueezebox.com platform and will require, for the moment, manual intervention to resolve.
To resolve, please follow the steps below. If you have difficulty with this, let us know and we can schedule a remote session to help you."
The problems I had with Tidal were not related to an update. Not sure what caused it. I have since updated to 1.4.6. Initial impression, which is very limited, was no issues. Unfortunately Iāll be away from that system for sometime. The system I have access to now is tube based and focused on analog playback.
Hmm strangeā¦I had to go through all that manual settings procedure Innuos told me to do to get Tidal working.
Well good for you if it“s working now without issues.
I had to do the same manual reconfiguration per Innuos instructions following 1.4.5 update. So far 1.4.6 seems ok w/o any additional intervention. I have had significant Tidal issues with non-Innuos server/streamers since September Tidal updates. Was without reliable Tidal access for 6 weeks.
