Agreed - write it in text for goodness sake!
if it’s a video I almost always bail before watching.
I need to stay away from articles like this. I’ve followed ChatGPT issues for a while but now the tech and platforms only cause mental stress.
Very interesting. It’s true. That’s why I get only AP, MoFi, Classics etc reissues. At least for the high cost you’re getting something good quality and good re mastering
Vinyl has been around for over one hundred years and is a very old form technology. We grew up with it, so it’s important to us on many levels. I have a few friends who have the wind up 78rpm lacquer players from the 1920’s and 30’s who use them as a novelty players.
I can’t help but feel that all this fuss about it will basically be irrelevant in the very near future as we die off. The younger generations will be exposed to better and better technology for music reproduction and those who do indulge in it will be a much smaller minority, shelling out bigger and bigger bucks.
Jack White expressed the very same thoughts in this article. It’ not an uncommon feeling among enthusiasts and artists.
Jack White urges major labels to build own vinyl pressing plants.
I have it but I am too busy following Harry and Meghan to look for it.
The physics of swing . . .
I listened to this earlier this week. It was nice to hear what I think we all believe, there’s a certain magic that happens when musicians are in a groove.
Anyone even remotely plugged into the Chicago rock n roll scene knows WXRT and Lin Brehmer. Said to be the same great personality in everyday life as he was on the radio: a passion for life. This makes me very sad. Oh, I even forgive his Cub fandom.
Loved his humor, enthusiasm and optimism. "It’s great to be alive"
Lin will be sorely missed here.
Sad to hear his passing. I’ve spent countless hours with him in the background on ‘XRT. His wry wit and biting commentary went beyond the usual DJ shtick.
An amusing (and enlightening) read.
And in fairness it acknowledges the idiosyncrasies of the UK’s weights and measures too so don’t @ me
“A Scottish pint, for example, was almost triple the size of an English equivalent until 1824, which speaks volumes about the drinking culture north of the border.”
"Meanwhile, buy a pint in the UK and you’ll get 20oz of beer, do the same in America and, depending where you are, you’ll likely get 16oz – a fact that still shocks British drinkers. "
The Register is always good value
In the States you just have to know where to go to get a proper pour.
They the people who burned half the known world’s irreplaceable master tapes and then didn’t tell anyone (at first)?
