With all the expense and effort we go through to isolate our equipment from vibration, it has me wondering why any audiophile grade speaker would have internal crossovers. I know that speaker makers go through different machinations to stabilize the crossovers inside the box but why not just have them external to the box? Does all that pressure and vibrating inside the box have no adverse effect on the crossover?

I would agree, and have considered moving them out of my speakers a couple of times. On the mains though I just dispensed with them altogether and went the electronic route
I would assume at least a few high end speakers have the crossover separate, surely?
