Is it better to match speaker cables to the brand of interconnect cables?

I have two stereo set ups, one of my den and one of my new List room in the basement and my den. I have the Stella Strata MK two integrated with FR5’s. I’m in the basement. I had the Stella line with the deck preamp phono stage S 300 amp and power regenerator. I am adding FR10’s in the next day. On both systems I’m using AUDIO quest recommended cables from PS AUDIO however for the speaker connect I have transparent audio plus cables. My question is will I improve my sound on the both systems using an audio quest rocket 44 matching the other connects thanks look forward comments.

I have AQ Rocket 44 speaker cables for when I connect my Infinity speakers. They are ok. They are not the absolute best available, but they are ok.

Whatever speaker cables you do get for the FR10, if you get cables that are bi-wired at the speaker end, make sure you get a custom 12" length where the bi-wiring breaks apart from the main cabling at the speaker end.

Others might not understand why, but the connectors for the FR10 are located in a row from left to right, and is good to have sufficient length at the speaker ends of the cables. My standard rocket44 bi-wired speaker end cables do not fit the FR20.

Thanks for this, I never thought of the length at the speaker end

When you use the GAT do you reverse the leads on the amp or speaker end? Just curious.

amp end. much easier to switch 2 than 4.

I should’ve thought of that. Duh.

Although, the connectors at the amp end are banana, which can wear. It might be smarter to change at the speaker end, lol

Transparent Plus speaker cables are very good cables, might be hard to beat them without spending a lot more. It could be worth saving the money to eventually upgrade your S300, just a thought.

Tom, there’s a wealth of information about Iconoclast cables with its own dedicated thread. We have an in home audition program that lets you “compare” your cables with Iconoclast. There are a good number of FR owners that use our cable assemblies. Belden has been an undisputed leader in producing copper signal transmission cables for 123+ years. Nothing to lose by listening for yourself. Let me know if you have interest.

These aren’t bad at the ‘budget’ level - so much depends on your system tho I think. My speaker cables for main system with PSA amp and dac to Dynaudios are Audience and they are amazing, but not cheap…. I also use Morrow and love them as well

Match your cables to the component mfr? What does that even mean? Very few–nearly no component mfrs make or resell cables.

In my experience, a full loom of a cable mfr seems to have the most positive effect.

Actually Gryphon makes wonderful cables. I own many.

I think they meant match speaker cables and interconnect cables. Full loom like you suggested.

Speaker cable and interconnects from the same vendor

Sorry I misunderstood. Yes, I believe all cables from the same manufacturer (a full loom) makes synergistic sense.

I thought you meant cables from the component mfr, i.e. PS Audio cables or Prima Luna cables which don’t exist as far as I know.

PS Audio made and sold cables. Odd you don’t remember this.

Sorry Senator. To the best of my recollection and my CRS not withstanding, that’s past tense; like the pancakes I ate yesterday morning.

And if I may, with all due respect Senator, they sold them but they didn’t make them.

Rocket cables from AQ are okay (for many years I used Rocket 33 and liked them). But for FR-10s? I suggest you consider cables much further up the AQ line. With my M700s and Magneplanars I use Iconoclast TPC. When I installed them my “boss” heard the difference 2 rooms away and called out to me. They were not the same family, but one of the best sound quality decisions I ever made. But keep your interconnects in the same family. You might take a look at Iconoclast’s website.

my boss noticed the new Audience speaker cables I bought, said they made Diana Krall so much more palpable… then she checked the Amex. The price was even more “palpable” she said…
