The Cotswolds are full of rich English types in Range Rovers, the Midlands are full of petrolheads, the Highlands are just wet and the Alps are full of cows, but the Fjords … you can’t beat a good fjord, and a lot nearer than Boulder.
I have good friends in the Cotswolds, hard working, no Range Rover and very welcoming. Love the country side pubs as well.
Sorry, far too English for me. Rather go to Africa, Asia or Nuuk. Lots of fjords in the Nuuk environs … and no audio dealers, but soon there’ll be no audio dealers anywhere.
I like that Edinburgh dealer idea there seems to be enough choice.
Plenty

There is another very big dealer about 40 miles away with a big business and good facilities, carrying loads of brands, who is also UK distributor for quite a lot of them, including Auralic and, dare I say it, Gato Audio.

Seems like you can’t walk around Scotland without tripping over an audio dealer.
@Paul and @Dirk need to go and talk to them, haven’t found PS Audio on their site. But yes, indeed good that they are still there.
There’s another really good dealer in Edinburgh and Glasgow

Can’t see any PS Audio dealers north of Manchester. There aren’t that many PS Audio dealers in the UK.
Well, it would be a 20 hour round trip for me to visit Hi Fi Corner. They have no showroom in the US. Should I contact them and complain about it? Like it or not, the world is big and everything can’t be within 2 hours of our doorstep.
Where’s the SST when we need it? Feeling like Chinese for dinner… ; )
What’s the SST Badbeef?
My guess is BB was referring to this blast from the past:
That could speed it up a bit if only there would be a direct flight Denver. It’s the change over and time at the airport that contributes significantly to the travel time.
Is this still going?
Can someone answer why there are three really good audio dealers in or near a small town somewhere near the Artic where the favourite musical instrument are the bagpipes? (and I use the word “musical” lightly)
They are nice…I got some Music Matters LP’s from them. The seemed to be the only importers in Europe.
Take a set of bagpipes, detach the chanter, and then play it directly by mouthing the reed. It is a surprisingly sweet and nuanced instrument which has the misfortune to be keeping rowdy company,
You are right. The way you describe it it sounds best. I’ve heard it played that way. Most of the times I have heard back pipes, they were playing music. Whether it was the Edinburgh Tattoo, Scottish Highlanders exhibiting their culture, the US Federal Police Corps musicians playing or cultural events in the Middle East, it was more music than rowdy noise.
Perhaps not my favorite to reproduce on my music system at home. But that is a different story.
“Bagpipes sound best being played whilst walking over a hill in the mist. Preferably walking away from you…”
As my grandmother (from London’s East End) used to say
Without going too deep into English-Scottish love and hate relationships, I am not surprised hearing English saying that.
I think they sound great, and wish I could play 'em. I also keep an eye on a couple of Scandinavian folk-metal groups, and their Breton (?) Pipes - great stuff (the pipes, not so much the metal, though they do seem to be having a really good time playing, I wonder what the lyrics are saying!).
I’d like a harp too, and any number of Japanese acoustic instruments, but I think I’ll stick to acoustic guitar
Paul, I live in Bermuda where we have no PSA distributor. I have several pieces of PSA equipment including DMP, DS Dac and a BHK Pre. I love them all and fortunately have had no meaningful negative issues with any, at least none that couldn’t be remedied with a few emails to your very helpful support people. I understand, to a degree, with the change in your sales policy to direct. However, for me, the issue is one of shipping, import duty and subsequent repairs if needed. The items I noted above were all purchased at dealer special prices (Black Friday promos etc) and with the discounts I managed to actually get most of the pieces into my system with the prices, after shipping, duty etc, near or even slightly below US MSRP. Where I get screwed is if I need to ship a piece out for repair. The cost of that really puts me behind the 8 ball! Trade ins are not viable when I have to account for shipping from here.
I wish you and PSA good luck. I know Bermuda is probably not high on your list of places you need to have a presence (population about 60,000) but no doubt there are a number of places that fall into this category.
