5 isopucks are enough for a P20
Well, ISO-Acoustics indicates…
http://www.isoacoustics.com/iso-puck/
…the maximum weight is 20 ponds per puck, and the P20 weighs 103 pounds IIRC. So I’ll use 6 if I use any.
I just stuck 4 VooDoo Isopodaroonies under my P20. Made a nice difference.
You might want to check with Isoacoustic, 3 pounds over is likely better than 17 pounds short. Not sure.
Btw, I think 105 is shipping weight. I have a P20, pretty sure it’s closer to 95lbs.
I have isoacoustic products under all my components, including my 2 subs, and my 280lb speakers. Except my P20. Great stuff
You’re SO correct; weight is 96 pounds. Thx.
I hope you had someone to help you lift it!
Not really; I used a wooden stick to lift it.
What I mentioned elsewhere here you might be very surprised. Replaced top Stillpoints under all my equipment. https://www.lowes.com/pd/Kellett-Washing-Machine-Vibration-Pad-Black/1078011
You might think it does nothing for this price but for the price, why not try it? Plus you can return them. I like to find odd answers in unusual places that also work for us!
Are you saying that these work as well as the Still points? thanks
I just ordered two sets ( 8 pcs ) of these vibration pads to check them out. They cant be all bad if they replaced Stillpoints, and work even under spinning waching machine . Will let you know later how they work in my setup. I plan to put 4 under my rack first and then try other options.
5 isopucks is all you need, and, will work better than 6. Unless you have an extra 20 lbs on top of your p20.
P20 weighs 96 lbs, isopucks are rated at 20 lbs each.
I know I’ve mentioned this before, but I like to experiment and confirm my experiences/opinions.
So I removed the VooDoo IsoPods from under my P20. The improvement they make is remarkable. The sound gets smeared and the mids and bass are less weighty without them and just on the factory feet.
They’re expensive but worth it imo.
Do you put the isopods under the feet Ron or directly to the bottom of the chassis? My worry with directly to the chassis for this and the pass amp are they weigh a lot and putting weight on the metal plate on the bottom seems like it might dent the casing if only on 3 to 4 points in the middle vs the corners which are braced more for it
Veneet, I’ve done it both ways with the P10. Sounded slightly better with the feet removed, but that was a subtle difference. I noticed no damage to the bottom of the chassis when using them before removing the feet, placing them “inside” the area the L shaped feet create. (Of course the P20 is heavier, though the bottom plate may be as well). I very much like how they influence the sound.
I put them very close to the edge. I removed the feet from the P20 but not the amp. Both bottom plates seem sturdy enough not to bend, but I surely would not support them from the center.
Even with the amp feet in place, I can still arrange them front and rear near the edges.
So the feet no longer touch the surface of the rack, just the isopods, right?
@RonP - Voodoo recommends 4 pucks for amps and regenerator. There is a machine screw on my amps I use as a guide to make sure I am outside that screw. I place them very close to edges as you have done when they assume the P20 feet’s function.
Yes. The Pass feet are elevated about 0.25" off the shelf.
