My LHY converter is an easy choice. I saw one earlier this week for $417 on Aliexpress. How can you not? No external power supply needed. Mine is a keeper.
I just got my SW-6 up and going this week with Fiber from SW-10. Also received LPS (Ken Lau) for Roon Titan Server. Clarus Power cables - Everything is burning in - about 50 hrs in so far. Already really good - so smooth. Highly recommend! Thanks dchang05!
If buyers are concerned about warranties the LHY FMC can be purchased Here from an authorized dealer for not much more than the AliExpress price. $494 free shipping.
That is the International distributor and Alvin’s partner. The US dealer and warranty repair station is in Texas and I would guess he nor Alvin will touch those Ali Express products.
I bought my SW-6 from them.
I don’t agree on your would not touch items from Aliexpress.
Well you could always try, but Alvin’s been pretty clear about it on multiple occasions. To me it’s not worth finding out and based on my dealings with Alvin, his partner and Todd the few dollars more is not that important.
I dealt with Alvin for many years. Bought everything directly from him. Wonderful guy. I am unaware that buying on Aliexpress is vile. Please explain in some detail.
They won’t service Aliexpress. It is grey market goods. I did see it on a LHY video on you tube and their website.
Does anyone have experience with Lumin using Leedh Processing Digital Volume control?
Good or bad experiences? Thanks…
Thank you all for contributing to this subject. Ive read it front to back twice over and still have questions as Im about to buy the sw6 and fiber connect to FMC. Just curious if I run the isolated ethernet out to Innuos Streamer would using the other ports affect sound quality or does Isolation truly mean isolation?
I have read that the purpose of the isolated port is as the input when you use Ethernet instead of fiber.
I believe it’s completely isolated looking at the unit pictures on the webpage.
I use the isolated Ethernet input from my backend network feed and then the SFP to my streamer.
Yeah, but a couple of gents here have the isolated going to their streamer. In my case, I’d probably head in the direction as you’ve indicated. I’m just not clear if using all the ports might have an effect on the important streamer.
Does this do the trick?
Eero ethernet to FMC > FMC Fiber to Sw6 > Sw6 isolated to Innuos Streamer & remaining ports used for tv and other gear.
At one time you were thinking of using the FMC, but it seems you ended up with two 6’s. Is that right?
@tony22 wish my streamer had Fiber in. Or at least a mesh router with Fiber out?
Thank you for these links!
I just ordered 2 SFPs and the cable.
If a difference can be heard. I will hear it.
Fun!
Yes indeed thanks for the tip!
Those SFP’s look like a perfect after summer break tweak. I’m also interested in trying these once I get back home!
Funny thing with SFPs and my melco and when I had the Sonore streamer. The very expensive Cisco ones I got free from work (we have piles of them) did not work. There may be a good reason why they did not work, but I got cheap ones off ebay that did work. Interested in seeing if these sound better. I will be getting an SW6 connecting to my fiber modem (I dont think it has sfp output) and the fiber to my melco which feeds my system.
Cisco modules will typically not work a number of devices because their modules look for some sort of “secret handshake” that tells the module it’s plugged into Cisco certified gear. However, there are devices like the SW-6 and HiFi Rose gear where they do work fine.
why does that not surprise me. The network guys at work were not either. The price of those things are insane too. For the 10 - 100Gig switches we use at work.
