No! No! Do not go into the rabbit hole trap on streaming, unless you want to spend way more than what you are expected to spend.
Said by the guy who threw me in that digital rabbit hole three years ago!
Thank you very much!
I think it’s too late
I ordered a dual output linear power supply to power both the modem and router. Am I officially crazy?
Welcome to The Club!
Please let us know if you are crazy enough to hear a difference.
Which model? Yes, you are… welcome!
Mmm I’m afraid you won’t be able to hear such a big difference at this stage, to be honest. But you have definitely jumped into the rabbit hole.
Probably you are already thinking about the next step, which would be proof of your irremediable condemnation!
Officially crazy? No, you’re officially entering the Audiophile club where most members are indeed crazy😆
Agreed, one needs to spend a lot more to start hearing difference.
For sure I will. Thank you
A32-II 50W+50W HIFI Ultra-low noise from China. I don’t expect to hear any difference but I put my cheap network switch in and noticed a tic like sound while watching a YT video. I paused the video and took the switch out and the tic was gone. So after that I figured it couldn’t hurt to put a better power supply on the router and modem. I picked a PS that could feed both since they are next to each other.
I am! I’ve improved a lot in the last few months and am blown away by how much better my little set up sounds. Going from a Topping E50 DAC(was also my pre amp…I know don’t laugh) to the Gain Cell DAC was absolutely incredible.
I think I’ve been an audiophile in waiting
Keep us informed.
Have you already tried Roon?
As for streaming I’d consider only Qobuz (or eventually Tidal). YT, Spotify and others are generally used for casual listening (to be polite).
As for PS Audio gear, oh well we are on this forum for a reason!
Will do. I haven’t tried Roon I’m using JRiver. I use QoBuz currently. I tried Tidal and at the time(different system) I couldn’t hear any difference so I choose QoBuz because it was cheaper. Does Tidal sound better? I did like their play lists better but I appreciate all the new music I’ve discovered in QoBuz. They seem to have a different slant with their play lists than any other streaming service I’ve tried. I do use Amazon for background music and definitely hear the differences between the different services. I quit using YT music all together.
I can’t wait to get a PSA amplifier and hopefully speakers
I use Qobuz, never tried Tidal. And I use InnuOS Sense App, as already mentioned, that I preferred over Roon, sonically speaking.
FWIW, when I sit down to do some “critical listening” I tend to gravitate to listening to my networked files (i.e., not files pulled from the internet) via JRMC instead of Roon. (I have both and subscribe to Qobuz.) For some reason, I think my library generally sounds better when rendered by JRMC.
That said, I love Roon’s interface and it is my favorite way to find and explore new-to- me artists and music and for more “casual listening”. Roon Radio is The Bomb as the kids used to say.
I bought a lifetime Roon license some years back and have never regretted it.
Have fun.
All in on INNUos, having two says it all. Are there better, certainly. At the time I dove in these were “it". Others out there at slightly higher prices with similar sonics, Aurender for example. Once INNuos released their Sense App I was more than pleased with my choice. The advantage o the server/streamer is it allows me to enjoy my rather obscure collection of CD based music at multiple locations. I’m peculiar in that regard, and probably in other ways as well.
Aren’t we all…?
Better that I keep my thoughts to myself in that regard.
I agree I much prefer listening to music from my HD with JRiver than steaming online. Pretty big difference imo I’m actually using my brothers account for JRiver so I’m open to switching for something better. I’m looking at Roon’s website and also the streamers mentioned. I appreciate the info from everyone, I have some learning to do…
