LHY SW-6: Snake Oil or A Substantial Upgrade?

Donald, Paul can give you some helpful information if he uses LHY FMC /SW6. He can tell you how the muon pro works.
You even have SW 10/6, so I wouldn’t worry about another switch for now. You can probably sit back and wait until a revolution comes. First PZ, Muon pro and then you want power amplifiers, cables should be sufficient for you for now. Although I would consider new cables for the new power amplifiers.
Maybe the Powerzone will solve all your power problems and worries about power cables.

I am in the US, and my MUON dealer sent one to me thinking I would like it. He was correct.

Whomever made the statement the MUON is only available from the manufacturer speaks incorrectly. Perhaps there is a lesson in there somewhere.

Could you share who your Muon dealer is? - and I could contact them and possibly buy one also. Thank you!

Well, I’ve had my Grimm MU1 + Mola Mola Tambaqui wired with Monoprice Cat6 cables to my Ubiquiti network stack in blissful ignorance until I started tracking this thread last week… now I have an LHY SW6 on the way, am about to order some OptoSpan modules + fiber, and am seriously considering the Muon Pro and a PZ3.10. Thanks a lot guys :money_with_wings::money_with_wings::money_with_wings:

The Muon Pro is a great upgrade to the MU1 with a good switch and the SW6 is a good switch. The PZ 3.10 or 3.20 are on a completely different level upgrade I’ve ever experienced so if the funds are there Powerzone before any other upgrade.

You are most welcome! If you are serious about the Powerzone send me a private message and I can save you some money on the purchase.

Oh boy, I’m definitely in trouble with you guys… Then again, I bought a Mola Mola Makua as my “convenience” pre/dac in my second system, but after testing it out in my Gryphon Essence system liked it so much that I wrote Bill P @ GTT and told him to send me another one. And now the Gryphon pre is my “spare,” so I’m already deep down that hole.

@aangen yes I am dead serious about the PZ, I will ignore @dchang05 's warnings and hit you up

I will invite you to our private room where I share an offer from my authorized Gryphon dealer to sell you one under our group buy and get $1000 off the price. If you have any questions you can ask there or ask me direct. I am so very impressed with what the Powerzone does for my system!

Then I must have overlooked and misunderstood something. For everyone who wants to try or buy something on site, all the better.:man_shrugging:

One way to look at it is to think about the effort and money you are saving by following a trail blazed by others. That works for me as I spend what I use to believe are ridiculous amounts on gear, cables, switches, media converters, SFPs, filters…

Welcome to the PZ group!

I’m surprised Bill at GTT didn’t try selling you the Degitterit SwitchX

Do you have the upgraded Kubala Sosna cable inside your MU1?

I didn’t dare broach network switches with Bill… but I can stomach a $800 switch… for now…

There’s internal cable upgrades for the MU1…?

Yes. It replaces the stock internal Ethernet cable with a Kubala Sosna Realization cable. I believe it’s a $1800 upgrade. Yes $1800🤦🏻‍♂️

hard pass

I did replace the cable in my MU1 with an Inakustik Referenz Ethernet. I think it made a nice improvement. I agree $100 per inch of cable seems a little pricey…

is someone working on a mod for MU2, yet?

No. It can’t be modified. The Ethernet cable is soldered to the board on the MU2.

This is the stock cable from inside the MU1.
