in other words… don’t take marketing claims literally. They’re extremely vague, don’t include context of how circuits actually work, and can mean any number of things. That said I don’t doubt the isolated port is beneficial.
Makes sense. Thanks for explaining that aspect, guys.
Definitely not snake oil, just added this to my setup and I was blown away, I’m a soft engineer by background and work as an IT PM so I was highly skeptical. But plugged this in and was in awe, I recently added a Puritan PSM156, this fixed the issue where I felt I wasn’t getting the best out of it during the peak day while working from home but this switch with some generic sheidled cat8 cables from amazing just made everything sounds deeper, tighter coming from the blackest background I have heard, totally happy with this and well worth it.
Welcome @Dash
It is truly amazing that our ears can “hear” the EMI and RF noise that surrounds electronic equipment! This is just the beginning… enjoy the ride.
Phil
Welcome, what is the rest of your system?
How I miss the old vinyl days!
Lol I didn’t say I heard frequencies in the 4mhz range but I know I was going to sell my amp and now im not as I enjoy what I’m hearing. All our hearing is different and we we like hearing different things and I honestly thought this was going to not make a difference but hey ho let me try it myself
I have a eversolo A6 ME going into an mscaler and Hugo TT2 feeding a Ferrum Oor with hypsos, Pathos Aurium and Enleum Hpa-23r
Be honest with yourself, you are a total digital nerd from now on. I bet your Stealth that if you are going back to vinyl tomorrow you will miss streaming much more.
Cannot negate the evidence….
Hi there and welcome - are you referring to to Muon Pro?
Hmm, I thought Dash means LHY SW-6 because he mentioned switch. Frankly in my system SW-10 brought in more improvement than SW-6, especially when adding SW-10 closer to the streamer.
My Muon Pro System will be here no sooner than next week, it is slower than expected.
Yes I have a similar system that you helped me with…SW-6 fiber to SW-10. I had the same experience. I am also fiber to streamer - will have to put Muon out of Router to SW-6. Interested to try this…
Oh no! Look at this:
And this:
(Sorry about the long and ugly links! Neat products though!)
I am safe from these since I am not sure what to do with them, thank goodness.
Thanks for the link to the Eversolo DMP-A8 LHY power supply. I am going to try it. I think eliminating switching power supplies is a good thing.
I have done the LHY LPS for the A6. It’s nice. That bridge is a cool option for a pre built room bridge. Can’t build it for much cheaper especially considering the LPS and case it’s in. They are making some very good stuff at reasonable prices.
Re: LPS vs. SMPS, I think it really depends on the quality of the supply and overall design of the component. The Mola Mola gear all use switching supplies, and I don’t think the performance suffers for it. Rob Watts has been an advocate for SMPS in Chord gear for decades now. Benchmark gear has SOTA performance with switching supplies. But all those firms have the engineering prowess to integrate them properly. The SMPS in most gear is generic stuff that isn’t well specified, while most engineering amateurs (and yes, most of the “designers” at niche audiophile firms are amateurs) can get an LPS decently right fairly easily. So while these LPS upgrades could be the lesser of evils, I don’t think replacing all SMPS with LPS is better in absolute terms.
I got some Blue Jeans Belden bonded pair Cat6A to try between the isolated port of the SW6 and the MU1. Compared to the generic Cable Matters Cat6 I was using, it sounds… different. Quieter and cleaner, but also softer. A bit reserved, a lot like an interconnect that isn’t broken in… sigh. Still haven’t ordered my Muon Pro yet……
If you don’t want to spend too much on an Ethernet cable, the Furutech lan cat 8 is an excellent cable.
