MKII auto select not working

After thinking that my Naim Uniti Core server had stopped working, I finally realized that my MKII DAC was not detecting the server’s signal and automatically switching to it. Now, the same goes when I begin playing a disc in my PerfectWave transport; the DAC doesn’t make the switch.

I’ve searched the forum to see if this is a known issue but haven’t found anything. I should also point out that this situation may predate the Blue Sky update I performed about 10 days ago. It’s not the biggest problem to encounter (and everything still sounds great), but I’d like to seek some answers.

Did you verify that Blue Sky loaded? I don’t know if that could be an issue, but in the past a small number of folks have had issues that required a reload of firmware. Also, turn the DS off at the back switch, wait a moment, then restart. That fixes a surprising number of issues. You could also turn off the auto select if it refuses to cooperate.

It sounds like you might have accidentally turned off auto input select. To turn it on, grab your PSAudio remote, point it at the DSD MK II and click the I2S-1 button twice like you would double click a mouse button.

Once you’ve done that, try again to see if it works as you expect.

I hope this helps.

One would think that after eight months of owning an audio component, I would have read the manual by now. And one would be wrong. (I’m still discovering new things in my two-year-old car.)

Thanks, mycrowave, for pointing out the selectable auto input, which did the trick. Thanks for your help too, pmotz. Both of you have apparently dutifully read the manual. :smirk:

Actually, I didn’t get the information out of the manual. While I had read the manual, I had forgotten how to do it.

Instead, this past spring, I was beta-testing a pre-release version of the MKII firmware with Ted because of an audio quality problem I was having, and I asked him how to reenable the auto input select feature. Since then, I’ve never forgotten it.
